Stewart and Tuck responded appropriately when asked about Burdick's claim about Tennessee's front court. From Carl's blog: http://snyuconn.com/uconn/notebook-best-frontcourt-huskies-like-theirs/

Stewart, who with Mosqueda-Lewis was named to the Associated Press preseason All-America team Tuesday, was asked about what Burdick said. After a 10-second pause to think it over, she answered.

“Honestly, I’m sure anyone on their respective team is going to think they have the best point guard or backcourt or frontcourt in the country,” Stewart said. “That’s your team. For us, I think that, of course, we have the best frontcourt in the country, the best backcourt in the country. This is a team that I would say has some of the best players in the country on it. And I think you have to think that with your teammates. You have to think that they are some of the best players in the country, because when you go to practice everybody is competing against each other and pushing each other to make us the best team in the country.”

Tuck also gave a politically correct answer.

“Tennessee does have a very good frontcourt,” Tuck said. “But, I’m biased. I think we definitely have the best frontcourt in the country. We proved it last year and, I think, we’re proving it now. But I can’t take anything away from Tennessee because they have a great team as well.”

Good answers.

Very good answers; respectful and not boastful. They are confident in themselves and their teammates based on what they've already accomplished on the court.

Both great responses........But I especially liked Tuck's........"we proved it last year and we're proving it now". No other team in the country can make that claim. As long as UConn is the Champion it alone can stake claim to The Best Frontcourt in the country.......Did I forget to say, 'Hands Down'.:D

Not sure who exactly is responsible for this aspect of the team decorum (maybe CD) but good coaching!

Agree and we have seen this for a long time with the Uconn players - they do get coached on all aspects of decorum and media relations from the minute they arrive and it shows. What I like most is that they don't dumb it down as much as you see in a lot of pro sports - you still get thoughtful answers with real information.
(Loved the scene on the bus in Bull Durham where Kevin is giving Meat the standard quotes for all interviews in the big leagues.)

Coach Dailey has a lot of rules. It's one of the things the newcomers are surprised by when they arrive. They all talk about Coach Dailey's extensive list of rules. It's part of protecting the brand which is more than just wins and losses. No twitter in-season, no nail polish, no visible tattoos, no crazy hair are some of the rules young women are faced with when they put on the uniform. Clearly there are image/appearance standards. As an example, when watching the championship game against Louisville, during the pre-game line up introductions, did you notice how each team's players presented themselves? This is all Coach Dailey's doing.

There has been a great deal of positive talk from and about Morgan of late.
The most profound being CD's comment on the resemblence to Farris.
A tenatious, nasty defender, an offensive threat.
A great teammate, and clear leader on the team, certainly so when Steff graduates. …and only a soph for goodness sake.
I expect nothing less than a monster season on the court, but much more…
Humanity, articulate public statements, good deeds (which we won't hear much about).
This kid is the whole package on a team of superstars.

To add to that in regard to Morgan: She is very mature, a natural leader and her basketball IQ is very very high! We are lucky to have her and see her work magic for 3 more years!

This team has a chance to be the best and most intimidating rebounding team in UConn's history. I can't remember when UConn has ever had a group with this mix of size, strength, and skill. Stef's and Breanna's skills are widely noted, and Morgan's are beginning to be noticed. (Yes, she can find a way to the basket in almost any traffic.) But when has UConn ever had a corps of rebounders as strong as Stef / Kiah / Morgan / KML, or who could leap as high as Breanna for rebounds?

I remember the days when rebounding strength was the stock in trade of the Orange Team. I recall a video clip from a young Geno before his first game with them in 1995, when he said (based on film review) that Tennessee threw up first shots that had about a 30% chance of going in, and that their offense was based on getting putbacks on the second or third attempt on the offensive boards.

UConn's offense in 2013-14 will be closer to 50% than 30% in its efficiency on first shots, but they also have a chance to play the putback game as well as the Tennessee teams of yore.

The games against Maryland and Penn State next weekend will prove or disprove the above hypothesis.

I think it applies to the fans too. When I met Chris, she smiled and said, "Nice to meet you. Get a haircut.":)

One of my favorite twitter exchanges between Rebecca and Geno involved CD and her rules:

Rebecca Lobo@RebeccaLobo 24 Sep
Immediately upon landing at BDL, state police boarded the plane with a dog and cuffed a passenger. A woman.

Geno Auriemma@genoauriemma 24 Sep
@RebeccaLobo was CD throwing a fit again for not getting upgraded ? Lol.

Rebecca Lobo@RebeccaLobo 24 Sep
@genoauriemma Yes. She was especially angry that some that were in 1st class were wearing jeans

Geno Auriemma@genoauriemma 24 Sep
@RebeccaLobo and headphones.

I think UConn has a very good frontline. I also really like the one Tennessee has.

Tenn does have a potentially good front line its still unproven but you cant even think about comparing it to UConn. UConn is in a different league then any team in WCBB . Many teams wont score 40pts against UConn. UConn will have to back off and try to make the game respectful not to embarrass their opponets. Yes they are that good. Better then any team WCBB has ever seem with the ability to score over 150 pts in a game if Geno lets them...but he wont let them. UConn will beat teams so bad this season that you cant even blame the refs for the disparity .

I really don't understand an obvious Lady Vol "homer" coming here and needing to stir the pot about a topic that based on last seasons results seems totally ridiculous. If you actually feel that way, that's fine but to come to this forum and interject that silly notion when you know that no one here is going to think that you're sane or agree with your opinion suggests that you're here just to be a little bit of a jerk.

That was a Buzz kill.

Fans are fans and look through fan colored glasses. That is what we do. I watched Russell play in both h.s. all-star games. She was terrific in one and struggled in the other I thought. I think she might have some difficult times this year. stwainfan likely hopes/thinks that Russell is going to have a Stewart tournament impact for most of the year. Our friendly Baylor fan thought that Higgins was going to be much more than she was last year and continues to believe in her talent, yet does not get Chong as I recall. I think Chong is talented and going to surprise. We all get to find out at the end of the year. Fan that I am, I hope that Russell, Higgins, and Chong all have great years....and that we win the Championship in Nashville, Tenn. :)
