Best College Freshman you've watched?

Hate Syracuse but Carmelo Anthony’s freshman season was the best ever IMO. He literally carried Syracuse to a National Championship .

Kenny Anderson’s was pretty impressive as well

Bernard King at Tennessee, no doubt for me.
26/12 and shot 62% from the field special player immediately.

.-.
I'd be tempted to say Anthony Davis, but his Kentucky team was loaded with top players. The right answer is probably Melo.

26 11 and leading the conference in blocks was insane.

Kevin Durant put up video game numbers every night. Don’t know if we’ll ever see something like that again freshman or not. And he shot 40% from 3.

If you take away winning a championship, it’s KD and Michael Beasley after that.

Derrick Rose honorable mention because he was just special to watch fly around the court.

KD was amazing, and still is. He played defense, too.

Texas also had DJ Augustin on that team, who had a 14-year career in the NBA.

The lesson, as always: never bet on a Rick Barnes-coached team to make it to the second weekend.

Hey guys,

IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE!

LEWIS FERDINAND ALCINDOR! From Uptown Inwood, NYC

Scored 63 for UCLA in his first freshman game against USC. The oppoaing center? Actor Tom Selleck.

Ouch! Magnum P.U.

John Wall was a great freshman, got pretty much every SEC award, averaged almost 17 points a game and 6.5 assists per game.

One of my all time favorites - almost made a Knicks fan out of me - ALMOST...............................

Calvin Murphy
As a freshman Calvin Murphy averaged an incredible 48.9 points a game.

An especially incredible achievement, since freshmen were not even eligible to play at the time Murphy was in college.

He achieved that average with literally zero minutes of playing time.

:p

He played freshman basketball. Freshman were not allowed to play varsity basketball.

Is that true? I just googled Selleck and he’s 6’4…

Kareem is like 7’1 or 7’2

Iverson, Durant, then Carmelo. In that order for me. Remember how close Durant was to becoming a Huskie?

Kevin Durant, Carmelo, Oden (Yes, I'll admit I was in awe of dominance even with the hand injury. He was a monster), Anthony Davis, Derrick Rose, and Iverson.

Personally Fav probably Kemba Walker and his coming out party vs Mizzou. We should have won in 09...legit sliding doors moment because who knows if he sticks around until '11 if that happened.

The difference between Jordan and a lot of other guys that’ve been mentioned is that Jordan wasn’t the best player on his Carolina team as a freshman. Worthy was. Everybody remembers Jordan’s jumper but Worthy had like 30 that game.
Good point, and when you think about it, where does that team rank with the all time greats, AND the team they beat for the championship (Patrick Ewing, Sleepy Floyd, Anthony Jones). Jordan led UNC in rebounding in that game, not bad for a 6’6” freshman.
