OT: Best Alien Movie

I honestly don't think I've seen it since 1996, does it hold up? I remember bits and pieces from it though, the boxer that just starts pummeling the aliens, and what ultimately destroys them
If it's the same movie I am thinking about, that boxer was Jim Brown. Wasn't it really deep country music that killed them? lol

Let's test how many aliens are reading this thread...

So many good candidates but I choose Alien because it is one of the few movies that literally had me on the edge of my seat for almost the entire movie.

Which of the 3Ss do you mean? story, suspense, or shorts soilers??

otherwise, Men in Black 2: 'who let the dogs out- woof-woof--woofwoof'

.-.
I was going to go with Earth Girls Are Easy, but someone beat me to it.

So my second pick: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, Across the Eighth Dimension

One of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had coming out of a movie. Spielberg, Cruise and a beloved sci fi property? I thought it was going to be an all time great cinematic experience. Not so much.

I thought it was fantastic. The futility of trying to fight a superior being with basic technology, great cinematic depiction of suspense, and just enough nods to its predecessors without being hokey.

Favorite Allen movie? I have to go with He Got Game I guess. Although that tennis one with ScarJo was pretty good that Allen directed.

Agree with this, has popped up every other day on HBO lately, mindless re-watch.

Also really enjoyed Cloverfield the first time through, not so much on re-watches, and the 2nd one was not even worth a view for me.

So many great movies mentioned. I’ll add Forbidden Planet and Day of The Triffids.

In the not the same category Stranger Things was an excellent series especially season one.

I loved "Forbidden Planet" as a kid growing up.

............and a couple I don't think anyone mentioned yet, both from 1964...........

First Men on the Moon

Robinson Crusoe on Mars

Not sure if either would make my top ten list but I recall both being great flicks.

War of the Worlds [yep, the Tom Cruise version)

It started fine, but for me the movie absolutely ground to a halt when Tim Robbins showed up, and it never recovered.

Also, it's always bothered me that Tom Cruise was the only person on the planet that could get a car to work by replacing a simple part. Everything else electrical on Earth continued to not work, but good ol' Tom got a car up and running. Fat lot of good it did them anyway, cuz it just got jacked by a mob if I remember correctly.

The movie did provide some decent material for one of the Scary Movie spoofs, along w/ Signs.

Almost everything I could think of has already been covered, except "Oblivion." I think that counts. There is some kind of alien intelligence/tech. I liked that even more than "Edge of Tomorrow," but both are solid.

Oh, "Knowing' was a tense, kinda creepy thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Sort of aliens. Something non-earthly anyway.

"Knowing" was great, enjoyed that movie. Nicholas Cage, Rose Byrne, and the boy who played his son were terrific in it.
