Best 3-point shooters of all time (excluding Ray Allen)

Rashad was easily my favorite shooter during my four years at school.

I find the list really interesting because I didn't realize how many 40% volume shooters we've had. With that said, of all these guys Shabazz and Ben Gordon were most apt to shoot off the dribble with little time on the shot clock or in clutch situations. That degree of difficulty has to be accounted for even in comparison to Ray.

Rashad was the most talented shooter we've had outside of Ray. His shot was a work of art & he had the clutch gene. My only hesitation in listing him first was that he was a bit too one dimensional in his shooting ability. From what I recall, he rarely created his own opportunities & he was never the primary weapon on a team.

As such, I voted for Bazz due to how much his outside shot changed games for us during that 2014 run. I remember thinking "money" every time he pulled up from range his senior year - no matter how difficult the look, or how he got it. I'll never forget the squid wiping the sweat from his head after Bazz drilled that deep 3 in the championship game.

Couple that with making some huge shots during the 2011 run & carrying the team through the first "transition" phase; he gets my vote as the second "greatest" shooter we've had.

It's Gordon and not really close. Gordon is closer to Ray Allen than the rest of the pack is to Ben Gordon. Rashad was a great shooter and super clutch but he couldn't create anything close to what Gordon could off the dribble and high degree of difficulty threes and Gordon still shot them at a higher clip.

I think some folks forget how great a shooter Gordon was probably because he was such a good all-around scorer. He shot a tick over 40% for his NBA career.

For what it's worth, Ben Gordon has the best career 3-point percentage of anyone on the list. I know it's a boring claim to make, but he's kind of the definitive answer based on that alone.

I took the approach of who did I feel the best about taking a three point shot. The answer was Anderson. I always felt like those were going in, as did he.

I gave Gaffney a vote because he was absolutely money during that hot streak he had.

Then I gave one RIP because coming off a screen he always seemed to have an open look.

But the short answer is Shad.

Easily Gordon, but Shabazz definitely took a hit due to shot difficulty.

First don’t go by numbers go by eye ball test. Rashad had range once he stepped on court and Big Ben was just deadly. The best part is the new guys we are recruiting looks to have great shooting strokes.

My man Shabazz shot daggers. On a few of those you could actually see the opponents deflate.

Ben is the answer for me. Loved watching his high arcing 3 seemingly drop down from the ceiling. One thing I do know is no one the list had more pure swishes which barely even touched the net.

If you say it's Rashad you won't get much pushback. It's two different ways to be lethally effective.

Next tier for me is Smitty and Bazz.

Donyell? His shot was dangerous (effective) because it often brought the defense out and allowed for the offensive rebound.

Other than that, Ben and Rashad were pick your poison for our opponents.

They were both so good that the fact Taliek couldn't really shoot barely if ever mattered.

Yeah, it's Ben and Rashad for me. Albie and Fair were both terrific shooters. Niels was also great his senior year. It's Ben and Rashad though. Ben was maybe more consistent but nobody made as many big clutch daggers in big games at big times than Shad. When he got hot it was like we were never out of any game. Duke in final 4 in 2004, Washington in sweet 16 in 06, the whole Bama game in the elite 8 was absurd in 04 tourney. Gottfried looked like he ate bad shellfish by the end of that one.
