I remember Brian Fair shooting well against the Orange as well. There was also talk of him playing defensive back or wide receiver for Skip Holtz and the Huskies when his college basketball was done.

Fair had beautiful form and tons of rotation on the ball.

Man that 2004 team was just about as perfect a team as you can make. All-American Emeka down low and then 2 of the most lethal 3pt shooters in program history Ben Gordon and Rashad out wide. Ben Gordon is my all time favorite Husky, but Rashad may be the most clutch 3pt shooter in UConn history. Every time we needed a 3, Rashad was going to make it. You could almost start celebrating as soon as the ball left his hands because you knew it was going in

First don’t go by numbers go by eye ball test. Rashad had range once he stepped on court and Big Ben was just deadly. The best part is the new guys we are recruiting looks to have great shooting strokes.
Speaking of the eyeball test, I am borderline shocked to see that Kemba was only a 32.6% 3pt shooter in college.

Ben and Rashard are 1A and 1B. They were on the court at the same time, how could you defend that team? All you young ones, go to UConn games .com and watch the 2004 elite 8 game vs Alabama. May have been the most dominating game in our history.
Rashad gets my vote. I Was at this game. Only thing hotter than Rashad were the Bama cheerleaders

It’s either Rashad or Ben. Rashad probably the best lights out spot up guy, Ben the better overall shooter because he could pull up, off the bounce, elevate, etc.

Mouring is probably the most underrated.

Ben is either tied or ABOVE Ray as the prettiest shooter/scorer. I could watch BG highlights all damn day.

Nobody changed a game like Rashad in my opinion.
LOL. When he was in a game and started shooting it was like a waterfall of 3 balls. Announcers used to go crazy. That video of him shooting 3's above is my favorite.

Wikipedia:

"In the 2004 season, Anderson finished as third leading scorer for NCAA champion Huskies with 11.2 ppg. He reached double figures in 19 total games on the season and was named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team after scoring 18 points vs. Georgia Tech in the Championship game and 14 points vs. Duke. In the NCAA Tournament he averaged 17.3 points and .488 from three-point range (21-of-43). His 21 threes set a UConn single-tournament record. Rashad scored 28 points in NCAA Elite Eight win over Alabama, matching the school-NCAA record of six three-pointers he set in First Round win over Vermont".

After Rashad, I would trust Shabazz and AJ to take a 3 down 3 at the end of a game.
Rashad was catch and shoot
he is dependent on playing with an AJ.
who could find him in the open .
With the ball in their hand.
besides Kemba , Ben Gordon is the guy I want to take the shot. Both were athletic enough to fight off a mismatch or a double.

I just watched a portion of the Alabama game on youtube this afternoon. Anderson's first shot was an air ball. Once the team started clicking, I believe it was Dick Enberg that said "they are really good". And they were. What a collection of talent on that 2004 team.

If the 3 point line had been in effect in the late 60's, there would have been NO question who was the best.
Wes Bialosuknia. Hands down. You youngsters who never saw Wes, have no idea of the range he had. 25 feet. He lit up the field house on many an occasion. The Poughkeepsie popper was an excellent nickname. Yup #44 could, and did light up scorecards on many a night.

My god this guy was beautiful to watch. As a 2 guard, I grew up on and tried to be like MJ and Ray, but this guy is the smoothest guard I've seen play.

That elevation, the herky jerky yet smooth movements, getting to his spots in only a few, unwasted movements, not to mention that gorgeous J ... If I could look like 1 player when playing, it would be Ben Gordon.

He sure was fun to watch. I did some quick googles and found he had a vertical jump of 37.5 inches, body fat of 5.3% and he could bench 300 pounds.

Interesting that Rip Hamilton is not mentioned much in this discussion. I clearly remember his ability to make the clutch 3 when it was needed in that NC run. There would not have been that NC without him.

I'm a huge Gordon fan too but the smoothest guard you've seen play and you grew up watching Jordan? What?

Yeah, Ben had some broad shoulders and was just so strong vertically. That highlight film is just filthy with his pull ups in traffic.

Denham Brown was clutch too!!!! Not on the list
My bad on missing Donyell Marshall, Deandre Daniels and Denham Brown

Donyell peak average was 37.0% ‘92-‘93, which didn’t meet the criteria
Denham peak average was 41.7% ‘02-‘03 his freshman year but languished ever since
Deandre peak average was 41.7% ‘13-‘14, I was going to add him but I forgot :(

Could of added all of them but I didn’t want to over saturate the poll. I guess there too many good 3-point shooters lol

I think when it comes down to the most skilled 3-point shooters Niels Giffey has my vote.

When he shot 6 for 8 from 3 against Memphis in 2013-2014 in the AAC quarterfinals was incredible

He hit his stride in his senior year and maybe part of his junior year. The others were more consistent throughout their college career.

Well that’s probably my 3 favorite and also 3 smoothest...so I’m certainly distinguishing between smooth look/game and how good they were.

Clearly I think Jordan and Ray are pretty well known for their smooth offensive games and again, that’s my top 3 so I’m splitting hairs.

But I guess I’m just emphasizing his particular aspects that I found pretty and smooth and how I’d love my game to LOOK. Ray and Ben are back and forth for me 1/2 on fav/smoothness scale.

I distinguish between those things in ways maybe others don’t. I think of athleticism and grace and IQ when I think of MJ. MJ pull up or attack were beautiful, but nothing’s prettier than Ben on a hesitation pull up from deep with his elevation and high arc. This is all subjective based on prettiness/smoothness.
