Drop the hockey program!!!
CUT GENO'S SALARY IN HALF
Drop the hockey program!!!
Hire a high school coach.
Either that or she has to recognize that she doesn't have the experience and expertise to participate in UCONN sports- related decisions. She called Warde a "rock star" and obviously is oblivious to the terrible job Diaco has done over the last three years.Herbst needs to be fired; she has overseen all the bad decisions and been paid huge sums for it.
She called Warde a "rock star"
It was a joke but not really, hire anyone over this idiot. I thought Pasqualoni was the worst I had seen until Diaco came along.North Texas tried this. They hired one of the best in the country. He went 6-37. He's coaching in high school again.

just not for us.He went from Buffalo AD to Michigan AD in four years, pretty sure she was dead-on whether you like it or not.
Please tell me you don't think Warde Manuel was a rock star here?He went from Buffalo AD to Michigan AD in four years, pretty sure she was dead-on whether you like it or not.

You're giving him credit for Ollie and Geno. . . . . . this is pure gold. You must have thought Hathaway was responsible for Calhoun and Geno's success as well. I'll give him credit for hockey and helping to clean up the APR mess. You fail to mention him keeping Pasqualoni too long, hiring Diaco and us being by far the best athletic school left out of the P5 under his watch. I don't blame you for omitting all of that, his UConn bio does as well. For a "rock star" who was brought in here for his football background, he was a pretty miserable football "rock star."He got a deal done with a MBB coach that was forced on him by the previous coach retiring at the worst possible time. That coach has shown the ability to become a good HC, in addition to winning a NC.
WBB remains dominant. Got an extension with Geno done easily.
FH took the step back up to being dominant. WSoc took the step back up to being a major national player.
Hockey went from nothing to a revenue-producing draw despite playing much tougher competition and having sub-par facility issues beyond his control.
Academics for MBB are much-improved and remain strong across the entire athletic department.
I wouldn't say "rock star", but if you think he did a bad job, you're bitter and nuts. He did a very good job here. That is beyond question based on the judgement of dozens of folks who are qualified to know.
But, you know, some folks on a message board.
Texas is the absolute worst athletic university (see their revenue vs results)Typical Northeastern elitist. Ever heard of the University of Texas, for starters? I can keep going.
Compared to the he replaced ..sure was! The man in 18 months raised enough money to start and complete the precious hoops practice facility that A a s hat Supreme Jeff Hathaway couldn't do in 10 years! Add to that cleaning up a AD that had no compliance staff that A s shat Supreme also decimated to save $$ and get himself a precarious bonus. He had his warts BUT he was by far and away MUCH better than was employed here! Oh yeah by the way Hathaway promised Hofstra his connections would get them into the A-10...guess what they are still chasing that invite! Please tell me you don't think Warde Manuel was a rock star here?
If we are comparing him to human waste of course he looks good.Compared to the he replaced ..sure was! It's really funny seeing people with no background in university administration thinking that football coaching hires are the sole factor.
According to the people I talk to who worked for the university under both Austin and Hogan, Herbst is miles ahead of both.
You talk to the wrong people.
If Diaco isn't fired I will never watch another UConn football game and any good will Herbst has built at UConn is lost forever.

She is actually going to go down with the ship... and it's GOING TO BE GLORIOUS.
The endowment has doubled under Herbst. Doubled.
Shut up.
And consider that there's reason to give Helfrich another year, he averaged 11 wins his first three years and had his first bad year this year. Oregon can make that statement because 1) it's not blatantly obvious that Helfrich needs to be fired immediately, and 2) they have the money to pay his buyout if they do decide to do that. Neither of those two conditions are true for UConn. There's no consideration necessary whether Diaco deserves another year based on merit, he does not. We apparently do not have the money to pay his buyout if the decision to fire him is made. The Oregon AD statement regarding "we will meet and evaluate in the next few days" hasn't exactly resonated across the fan base or CFB. I'm pretty sure Oregon takes Football seriously.
I'm fine waiting more than 24 hours for a definative statement...
... and, may just have the $.I'm pretty sure Oregon takes Football seriously.
S&P 500 when Herbst came on board in December 2010: 1224
S&P 500 close November 25th: 2213
2213/1224 = 1.81.
Wow the endowment doubled under her watch.
We should have elected her President of the whole country!!!!!!
DOUBLED IS A TERRIBLE RESULT WHEN THE MARKET IS UP 80%.
So I guess my alma mater BU should fire its president since our endowment has only risen 50-60% since the stock market crash. It's probably not relevant that he also navigated the endowment during that time period to minimize loss better than just about any president in the country. Dam, and here I thought he knew what he was doing.S&P 500 when Herbst came on board in December 2010: 1224

That means a "we'll meet and evaluate" statement from Benedict is meaningless and would only infuriate the fanbase even more. What's there to meet with Diaco evaluate from a merit perspective? Diaco imploded this season in a way few coaches have ever done so and done irreparable harm to his reputation as a head coach. By all metrics, he should be fired. There's nothing to "evaluate" from a merit standpoint, therefore such a statement from DB wouldn't accomplish anything positive.
Are you telling me you think that Hathaway did a better job than Warde Manuel? If we are comparing him to human waste of course he looks good.
Comparing Texas and Connecticut is utterly ridiculousTypical Northeastern elitist. Ever heard of the University of Texas, for starters? I can keep going.
