The "shy" and "modest" Sammy has a tattoo of Shhh on her finger that she holds up after making a basket. Right.

"Women’s basketball needs someone like Sammy. Someone who isn’t afraid of juking the status quo. Someone who can help women's basketball reach an entirely new demographic of fans.
'This ain’t the ‘50s anymore,' she says while shaking her head with a trademark, facetious smile."

Meh Meh.

One, she's not from New York, she's from Long Island. Yeah I know both Bria and Sue Bird also call Long Island their home, but she has nothing else in common with those two, other than they are all guards. Absolutely nothing.

Maybe she'd be more likable if she really were from New York. At least the premise of this article would be more intact. I admit I did not read it, just took a look to see the source and read the first sentence or two.

Two, she's a senior and that means I won't be tempted to watch her any more after this year, just to enjoy seeing OSU lose.

.-.
"Could Sammy Prahalis change the women’s game? It’s a fair question. She has all the qualities that would be required to do so and there’s no denying she possesses the desire and motivation. As Ohio State’s season rages on, Prahalis is quickly solidifying herself as a first-round lock in the 2012 WNBA Draft."

Change the game?!?! Help me here 'cause I don't see OSU play alot... if she is a 1st round lock its because its a weak field, right? CHANGE THE GAME?!?! Based on her disappearing act in our game last year, I'd say she'll be lucky to be in the W at all a couple years out.
Did Diana "Change the game"? Has Maya?
Sammy P? No freakin' way.

As she said: "This ain’t the ‘50s anymore.” Anyone can be a herd animal. To be different and successful is not a bad thing. If other players resent her attitude, then their challenge is to shut her down. Many people went "meh, meh" to Ali. But he got even my wife to watch his fights and she hated boxing. Styles-P may be what the WNBA needs to attract a new set of fans, younger and hipper.

Has the New Face of the Game/Twitter Goddess been supplanted by The Rebel Just Because? It's hard to keep up.

For reasons I don't understand, she has always had a reputation far exceeding her talent.

She has not lead Ohio State to anything grander than some BIG Ten Championships. And the Big Ten is a pretty weak conference.

She is a long way from being on my list of heroes.

Thank you and well said, OC!

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

When we played Ohio State last season she was 2 of 17 for 7 points in 37 minutes.

This is like saying that Dennis Rodman changed the way pro basketball is played- at least Rodman has won something.

She is a prima donna, but I have to say that she has improved her game(and attitude) this year.

I've never seen women playing at the West 4th Street courts in Greenwich Village. Haven 't been there in years, but it's a place that should be on every BB fan's bucket (NPI) list. Great basketball is played there on a tiny court where a chain link fence is the side out of bounds.

If your lucky, you might see the locals holding their own in brutal pick-up games with pros or top college players. The highlight for me was seeing Julius Erving, Earl Monroe and Wilt the Stilt there.

I'd love to see the ladies play there. Doty would be an ideal Rucker type player.

I can just see all the herd animals in today's WBB shuffling their feet in resentful unison as she raises her finger a la Ali to silence their plaintiff "Moo Moo"

Wow not many Sammy fans here. Has anyone actually watched her play this year? Seems like some are judging the kid on the past. Her on court demeanor has almost done a 180. I've watched around 10 games. Very little reaction, much more leadership. Her and Tayler Hill are the only reasons that team is winning any games. Kids grow up and mature, both in life and in sports. Some very mean-spirited comments directed at a player whose team UConn has played what....once in 20 years? Wowza.

was she ever on UConn's radar... if so, what happened?

I know during her recruitment she visited Rutgers, OSU, & Illinois. Hoopgurlz doesn't say anything on her profile. But it would be interesting to hear if you guys had any interest in her.

I never heard of UConn having any interest in her. UConn got a very good pg in Doty, in the same class, and may have already had Hartley on their radar.

she played for Exodus NYC during her AAU days

I live in Big Ten territory and have seen numerous games this year. I have not seen the 180 you speak of. I do think she has improved a bit but still has a long ways to go to live up to her hype.
