Yes. Ive been to their brewery in Milford a few times. Rest of the stuff I have tried there I thought was just ok, but they hit it out of the park with Benji.

I'm over in Europe for work and picked these up at an Aldi in Netherlands.
$9.50 USD for the two 4-packs.

I'll be sampling tonight.

Hate to be the jerk and say you can probably get that in the states... but not at that price. 8 beers for 9.50? I've heard beer is much cheaper in Europe. I forget the exact reasons. I don't think its subsidies.

Got to go to a UConn 1881 Series Alum event at Two Roads on Wednesday. They debuted this beer which was brewed by the student “Brew Crew” which is part of UConn’s new Brewing Innovation program:

My daughter was part of the crew (which was actually mostly women…great to see!). Proud of all of them and the Beer came out excellent!

Is that after VAT? For Europe it sounds a bit pricey (as ridiculous as that may sound).

Belgian beers aren’t really cheap, even in Belgium. Slightly less than they are her. Ordinary stuff like pilsners are cheap.

Those were very good prices. Four packs of the better quality brand labels Belgian Ales are $7-$9 Euros now. Dollar is pretty strong right now against Euro.

Zot is very good indeed.

Would be interested in your thoughts on Hopus, on behalf of my wife. It was her favorite beer in all Belgium. I found it good, not great.

I'll look for it. I think I'll be in Bruges, Belgium next weekend.

popped over to open gate Baltimore after an academic event yesterday at UMBC... been there before, still not impressed though their porter where they imitated the standard Guinness taste was good.

They both weren’t very good. The blonde was skunky and the tripel’s taste was pedestrian.

Making up for it at lunch.
Bruges Zot Blonde is always a winner.

Well, just like you eat what you put on your plate, I powerd through on the beers. The rest of the Blondes were fine. No skunk flavor. I'd drink them again if they were being served at a party or something but doubt I'd buy them. I'd pass on the Tripel. There are just so many better options out there.

This was fantastic on draft. Alora is such a unique hop. Did you try No Return DDH IPA? Hope you had a great time Saturday!
The place was packed when I left at 1:30. Got there by 11. A bottle share happened at 11. Zac brought out bottles of BOJ and Fox Farm. Others offered brews.

Inside I had Eager, Marlito and the Vanilla Maxy Boy.

Next time, I'll just take Metro North.

Brought home 4 bottles of Maxy Boy, No Return and the GS Alora.

Following up on this. We didn't see any Hopus but we were limited to a restaurant and the hotel bar on Friday night because of rain. Saturday we did some shopping in the morning and there were several stores open which primarily sold Belgian Ales. I didn't see it there either.

OTOH, Mrs. Diesel became a huge fan of Karmeliet Tripel. Still my favorite beer in the world.

Tripel Karmeliet hasn't been imported in my state for a few years now. Very sad.

Heading to Kent Falls for the first time tomorrow. Any suggestions or recommendations?

On Sunday, I'll head to the Craft Beer Grand Prix at Lime Rock. CT Craft Beer Grand Prix Returns to Lime Rock Park over Memorial Day Weekend - Lime Rock Park Hopefully there will be something good there too. Despite unlimited samples, I'll need to take it easy as I have to drive back to eastern Mass in the evening. Has anybody been to this?

Just a heads up re: Kent Falls. The town of Kent decided to institute some ridiculous archaic law after seven or so years of regular pours. KF is allowed to only sell flights of TWO OUNCE tasters per town ordinance. I think this change has impacted visits by craft beer enthusiasts. I’m a fan of Buddy Sprinkles, a solid IPA with a citrusy bite. I know you’re not a big farmhouse ale guy, but Fingerprint is a really nice, tart and refreshing beer on a hot day. Enjoy!

I saw something about that. It's not ideal. I'm wondering if it's worth the trip down from Lakeville. Great Falls is closer, but doesn't open until 4:30.
