Had several varieties of Bourbon County Stouts from Goose Island yesterday.

A buddy keeps these things for year's on end so we had some 2019, 2020 and 2023's yesterday.

The proprietors blend from what I was told is only for sale in the Chicago area. The 2020 Propietor's Blend was outstanding. Exactly was a Christmas beer should taste like.

I find about 3-5 years to be a nice sweet spot with a lot of the Bourbon County's. Past that goes downhill with oxidation, year 1 and 2 a bit hot.

That aligns with what we thought. We all agreed the 2020 was the best, the older ones were a bit blah and the 2023's were more a one-note flavor profile.

The variants should really be consumed in the first year. The adjunct flavoring drops off pretty quickly. But I agree on the base beer.

New London. Right on Rt 85. They will be moving to Grand Street this year. Bigger place.
i'd get there before they move... things do change. their current venue is a tight as hell squeeze admittedly.

I came out of there over xmas with an on theme taster glass that had liquid measure on the side.

Coincidentally, happy leap day.

Post-victory triple IPA. I don’t really drink TIPAs anymore, and it’s certainly not a style that Caius focuses on, but wow this is good. @Dove loves this farm brewery in North Branford. I need to visit when weather improves.

Taking a break from finishing taxes and enjoying this, a birthday present from wifey. It's a dry Irish stout, my speed (4.2 AVB) from a well-regarded local brewer (Dancing Gnome).

Love Dancing Gnome IPAs. Just wish I had better access to them. Not sure if you have Lawson’s Finest distro in Pittsburgh, but their new-ish nitro dry Irish stout is fantastic.

Any brewery using plastic cups is an immediate turnoff for me. It was super annoying during the pandemic but now it's a dealbreaker.
The brewery is inside. This was out in the beer garden so they had plastic cups. Masters was on, about a 180 “ screen maybe.
