BC Post Game Thread

Jim Mora has taken this team over what felt like an insurmountable mountain. I know it’s just BC, but beating the team you can arguably point at for our conference woes feels really good.

Jim was the perfect man for this job. Very proud of how far this team and program has come under him and AD David Benedict. Keep it going fellas!!!!
Honestly for me this was probably the most satisfying win since we beat ND! Yeah BC is 1-5 and all. But pretty sure most of their fans probably had this one as a win before their next opponent (think ND). Let’s keep it going !

Went to the game, when I bought the tickets stupid me bought them near the BC players entrance, when I should've bought them more toward the middle, I wasn't thinking. So I was sitting right with BC players family members. They were very nice people so I had to be a bit respectful and try and just sit there quietly. So after the 1st qtr I decide I take that as an opportunity to take a bathroom break then go up and find empty seats much more comfortable where I could be myself.

Was frustrating in the 1st half particularly because of the defense allowing big plays resulting in 2 BC tds. Defense did adjust at the half. Sure I would like us to play a full 4 quarters but good teams win in the 2nd half.

Our offense is so good and Skyler Bell is an absolute star. That flag he got was absolute crap, ok maybe he was asking for it with the ball spin and the long 1st down pose but then the BC guy smacks his arm and doesn't give him a flag at all way to be consistent, a good ref just separates them and says ok that's enough. I saw one of the BC dbs get right in Bell's face when we had to settle for 3. Bell was torching him all day and got him back real good clinching it on the TD. Love our TE duo of Vereen and Honig.

BC fans were very friendly 1 guy started talking smack but got real quite once we retook the lead. The majority knew they weren't winning they know we have overtaken them in football. Nobody cares about BC at all not even in Boston. Was a great UConn crowd far louder than BC.

Four points: 1. It all starts up front. Props to the O-line today, Fagnano seemingly had all day to throw. A few too many holding penalties for my liking though. 2. Kudos to the defense today, which has been a bit uneven this season. Despite seemingly giving up 8-9 yards every time BC ran the ball in the first half, they did a nice job keeping the Eagles out of the end zone in the second half. Offense is firing on all cylinders. Kicking game is solid. Defense is starting to catch up. 3. Once again ACC officiating was suspect at times. When I saw the flag after Bell made the first down in the first quarter I though for sure it was against the BC player for slapping Skylar's hand as he was making the first down signal. Instead, they called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Bell! Crazy! 4. It was utter torture having to endure the same 3 commercials over and over and over again for the ENTIRE game! It was embarrassing for ESPN. Thank God for the mute button!
I have never hated PC Richard until yesterday. Stan Smith? Flying mattresses? That same song (Thank You by Dido) I used to like.
I was seeing those damn commercials in my nightmares last night.

BC college players made the first down signal at list 4 times after that during the game and there was never a flag. Maybe because Bell’s was along the BC sideline it was called. In any case, I hate the rule. It is changes from game to game and from referee to referee. Get rid of the rule. We don’t need referees changing out comes of games because of a rule that no one seems to understand.

The ACC wanted the Boston market, but the problem is that the Boston market doesn't care about BC unless it is hockey, and even then, it is not big with the Celtics, New England Patriots, and the Bruins
The ACC didn't care about the Boston market. They wanted the University of Miami. The University of Miami told the ACC that it wanted BCU in the conference to appease it's northern fans. So Miami hid BCU in their butts when they moved to the ACC. And that, is the truth.

Cannot stand if when refs throw flags like their parking tickets a good ref goes between the 2 guys and says ok that's enough. Flags really slow down the game. The flag for the late hit was ridiculous when our guy literally tried to let up on James slide.

Was so satisfying see us score 2 tds with relative ease after the refs threw flags. I saw a lot of extra curricular stuff BC guys were doing, and Mora was rightfully all over the refs for it.

ACC chose the wrong school. That much is obvious
So did the Big Ten

(a league that has 5 less men’s basketball championships since 1999 than UConn)

BC player made a point of walking into/through Bell's extended arm causing bell to swat him away. From the refs behind the players vantage point, it may have looked like bell was in his face but that was not the case.

I agree… this was a very satisfying win…

Other contenders would have to be upsetting a ranked Houston in 2016(?), the Fenway Bowl win, and maybe beating Liberty to become bowl eligible in 2022.

Some of those wins had a bit of luck and Rentschler field magic which is fine it's part of college football. This win was satisfying in a sense of domination despite being down at the half. Doing it on the road, dominating in Boston after the domination in Fenway to UNC no question helps the perception of UConn football doing it to 2 ACC teams.

Very late flag then. He threw it after the two players had their minor interaction and he was staring at them as he did so.
I just watched the play again and you're right. The ball spin came first, then the first down gesture and still no flag. Ref pulled the flag after the BC player swatted away Skyler's hand. So, either Skyler barked something he shouldn't have after the hand slap or the ref coming up from behind flagged the wrong guy.

The unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and actually a number of penalties were typical ACC bs. They tried their best to keep BC in the game.

But honestly, after that, Syracuse referee quit after being told to make calls against UConn, I got the feeling like they knew they were being watched closely.

They started calling a decent game in the second half.

Frankly, I found BC Stadium to be a great place to watch a game. Their fans were just fine. In fact, I was a little embarrassed when - we were in a really nice section and there was a group of what looked like to be UConn students yelling F BC - it just was not right for the occasion we were up by 15.

I remember a couple years ago when BC visited us and their fans were being really heckled hard on their way into the stadium. I know it was just one game, but I am very hopeful that when BC joins us we can just welcome them to our stadium and whatever happens, happens.

That’s an ACC Network (yes, its an ESPN network) thing. Tailored to the local market and only a few vendors by time. I watch a lot of Wake games relegated there and now I buy Duke’s Mayo and crave Bojangle’s.

I almost fell out of my chair when Coach Jim addressed the ACC officiating in an ACC venue with the sideline reporter. It caused the play by play announcer & color commentator to have to address the issue in the following segment. The officials's ears must have been burning, because they basically called a fair game for the rest of the contest. (with the assistance of Beagle's players lack of self control)
