The commentators kept talking about disagreement about Bazz yelling at Boat in the huddle....did anyone see or know what happened?

Bazz didn't like boats shot selection. By the way, those 2 have been sniping at each other for 2 years.

Boatright struggled most of the game from my perspective on the coach. I think he forces shots a lot when he knows he isn't having a great game, and the 3-pointer in question is one of those forced shots. With the point differential under 6 at that point (i think), boat needs to let his ego go a bit and do what's best for the team - pretty sure that's why Bazz was upset.

That being said - shabazz needs to realize that Rutgers is in the Bonus and not wrap up a 90% free-throw shooter. Those free 2-points put us in a bigger jam than Boatright's 'ego 3-pointer'.

I think the positive out of this little family-tussle is how KO handled it. He apparently let them hash it out themselves in the TV-timeout immediately following the Shabazz foul, and then pulled Boatright down the stretch sensing the tension.

Non issue. Announcers kept talking about it like they were going to come to blows. They're 2 fierce competitors, these things happen. I'm sure it's already squashed.
They only have a few games left together. We'll survive. My seats here at gampel aren't as good but my XL seats are right behind the bench and those two are oil and water, been watching it up close for 2 years. Bazz can be petulant at times ( don't get me wrong all time favorite of mine) and Boat is Boat. Just not the greatest chemistry there, never has been, but that's not uncommon in big time hoops. I actually think Boat has done a better job this year deferring. He'll get his shot next year to run the show.

So no one at the game who saw it thinks this is gonna be an issue going forward right?

Bazz learned the lesson, step on the throat when opponents are down.

Boat hasn't. He plays for himself when opponents are down.

Good for Bazz. Hope Boat learned the lesson. And since Rutgers would only win on a fluke, good time to use the teachable moment.

Wow. Don't paint with a broad brush or anything.
Next can we hear how Boat never passes to Giffey?

What do you think made Bazz commit the foul at half court? Be interested in your theory, especially since in the post game interview Bazz said that we need to step on the throat of the opponent at that point in the game.

BTW, you also didn't notice the way that both Boat and Bazz got Giffey the ball tonight? It was a watershed.

Boat unhappy about having 3 pts deep into 2nd half with a bunch of NBA scouts in the building. Bazz unhappy with Boat jacking up shots early in the clock when team is trying to run out the clock. Boat unhappy with Bazz being unhappy and letting him know about it. KO unhappy about all of it.

I think that covers it.

They had an issue tonight. To take that and make a blanket statement that "Boat plays for himself when the other team is down" is dumb.

Really, you were reading his thoughts? Or you just assume he was being selfish late in a close game?

Nope. He has done it for years. It was why we have blown big leads all year.

I like Boat, great player. But there are times when he puts himself over the team. There are times when he plays for stats.

Bazz absolutely called him out on it tonight in front of a national audience. Too bad you missed it.

I heard the interview. You're taking one thing and turning it into something bigger based on nothing. "He has done it for years." Sure he has.

No merit to that at all. When we blew big leads, it was because we get complacent and took our foot off the gas (i.e. Bazz only hits daggers when he has to, rather than putting teams away). Boat being selfish or not has nothing to do with it.

Pretty much the way I've observed it, too. Left to their natural tendencies, they are not a natural fit as complementary players. Too much overlap in what they each would prefer to be doing. Boat has definitely sublimated more this year, and it works better that way most of the time.

Borges basically said that they clashed a lot two years ago, to the point that their friction is what was the source of the chemistry issue on that team, not AO/Drummond like so many on this board believe.

I don't know if they like each other now, but they usually play very well together when they're on the court, which is all we can really ask for.

Watch the games. Boat has way too many TOs in the last five minutes of games. Just a lack of focus. He also has less awareness of he shot clock than Bazz. He also plays more loosely when we are ahead. Has for years.

Yes, some of that is confidence (which is a good thing) or ego. But it doesn't help the team. I love that Boat forces the issue. BUT NOT WITH TWO MINUTES TO GO!!!!!!

I think that was the point that Bazz was making. (And some of you seem to be missing.)
