The plot thickens
The plot thickens
If it were something that resembled a real trophy, maybe, but that thing looks like a spitoon that a third grader made in arts & crafts at summer camp.
Strongly disagreePersonally I see that as a mistake on Mora's part. He shouldn't acknowledge its existence.
This is beautiful.
We shamed them by beating them, and then we shamed them with their very own trophy (which was made with the intent to shame us in the event of a UMass win, no doubt).
So they have to eat their shame twice...
Sounds like they still have buy-in from one of those schools.I listened briefly to a UMass Spaces last night. Their fans are irate and dumbfounded by what the AD did. It's a fan created trophy and until recently they had buy in from UMass and UConn reportedly. If the school had just let us take the trophy, they would have been happy because the whole idea was to create a little tradition.
Also if they just let us take it, they just avoid yet another public relations debacle. The fired a popular coach who many felt was on the right track even if the results weren't evident yet, the senior day thing, cutting ties with a collective that was the only bright spot in a moribund program.... I don't know how this AD keeps his job, I guess the Admin just doesn't care at all. The football program is 8-56 under this AD.
Hopefully the next AD listens and finds this little clay pot and creates a little tradition or something. If their fans were cool with it I think it would be something that could possibly catch. Traditions have start somehow. This debacle could help start this one.I listened briefly to a UMass Spaces last night. Their fans are irate and dumbfounded by what the AD did. As much as I like Don Brown, it was time for him to go. With UMass losing 54 (!) seniors, Brown turning 70, and they are heading to a conference, the program needs a total reset. And, the early signing period is this week and the portal opens in a week, so they need a new coach in place quickly. The fired a popular coach who many felt was on the right track even if the results weren't evident yet,
Yup, the jug trophy of sorts the defeated UMass AD rejected is a play on words for theI assume it's named after Southwick because of the notch.
That was my take too. I figured there would be some old legend tale that went along with it.It’s not about the jug, but what you put inside the jug.
Benedict’s greedy fingers saw an opportunity to profit again.I think it's ridiculous that they want "a mutually beneficial sponsor". Why can't we just have a trophy. Why does it need to be the Travellers Southwick Jug?? Just leave some things alone.
Was it him though? Or the NIL collective? This sounds like an agreement between the collectives that UConn, for now, is open to and hoping UMass will be as well.Benedict’s greedy fingers saw an opportunity to profit again.
Dave gave them a call. Was it him though? Or the NIL collective? This sounds like an agreement between the collectives that UConn, for now, is open to and hoping UMass will be as well.

You don't think this was a great solution? In my line of work, finding solutions is not better than finding the best solution.
