The topic of why UConn isn't considered for a P4 conference has probably been talked about forever and surely on the men's Boneyard forum as well as the general forum. Anyway, despite its being the Basketball Capital Of The World, its the perceived (and imo - and many others as well - invalid) lack of football revenue and market value compared to other candidates making it less attractive for media deals. However, as I say this, there is a definite improved football program and a new spirited coach that could change that invalid perception. Stay tuned. The Huskies are on everybody's radar except the Commissioners of the ACC, BIG, Big12, and SEC. The hell with them. lol
Vanderbilt's women and men's basketball teams are undefeated and climbing. Although Shea's team has a brutal remaining schedule. While UCONN faces Big East cupcakes and a couple of overrated teams.
I think everyone on the Boneyard can agree that it's great regarding Vandy men's and women's basketball rising but perhaps you can expound a bit on the point you are alluding to in the last sentence as it relates to this topic's heading of Basketball Capital because I may be missing it.Vanderbilt's women and men's basketball teams are undefeated and climbing. I love Shea and think the Vandy stories (men & women) are great but UConn is the only school to win 18 combined National Championships in basketball - period - much less in a 30 year span. (No tourney in 2020) To put it another way, UConn has won 30% of men’s and women’s championships in the last 30 years. Hence, Storrs is the basketball capital until another school can claim the titleVanderbilt's women and men's basketball teams are undefeated and climbing. Yes, you are missing it. Relative to the women's basketball foundation of the "Capital of NCAA basketball" it has yet to be thoroughly stress tested. This will not happen until March due to the lack of competition in the Big East.I think everyone on the Boneyard can agree that it's great regarding Vandy men's and women's basketball rising but perhaps you can expound a bit on the point you are alluding to in the last sentence as it relates to this topic's heading of Basketball Capital because I may be missing it.
And this has what to do with today's "Capital of Basketball?" Just said Vandy is gaining ground but because of a brutal schedule they in all probability will not catch UCONN by tourney time as #1 ranking. Since the Steph, Stewie and the rest of UCONN's best teams graduated, where has the Capital of Women's Basketball resided?
