Yesterday South Carolina unveiled a banner that read "Unanimous # 1 2019-2020" up on their rafters. I guess that's what you do when you only have 1 NC. Dawn continues to be adamant that they should be declared National Champions.Personally I think Oregon would have won it all if the tourney had been played but your thoughts on hanging a banner like that

Please point out any falsity in the banner
Maybe UCONN should go back and add a banner for every season they ended as #1. How many additional banners would that be? And as pointed out previously, had SC gone up against Oregon or Baylor.... do you think they would have won.... Being in different conference makes it hard to go off the rankings....

Remember when UCONN and Notre Dame went into the Championship game undefeated.... What would have happened had that season been called at the end of season prior to all leagues doing their tournaments? Do you think Muffet would have allowed UCONN to be receive the Banner for that year???

What I got out of the South Carolina game was “The one that got away” is really really good. Also note the halftime show was all about men’s basketball.

From the article you linked, it said they received 26 of 30 #1 votes in the AP poll and 26 of 32 in the coaches’ poll. That’s not unanimous.

Don't confuse, the Gamecocks with the truth! When Dawn finds out it "wasn't unanimous #1 2019-2020" I'm sure it will be revised to "Almost but not quite unanimous 26 of 30 (AP) voters voted for the Gamecocks other four for Oregon Ducks"

Check out yesterday's Florida v South Carolina game thread for more comments on this.
I also think that they should hang a banner for their awesome 29 game undefeated streak.

I am guessing that all the SEC coaches voted for SC, so...

Self serving and worthless. I would be embarrassed, in fact I am embarrassed for them.🤐

And it doesn’t even look nice...

I believe "unanimous" refers to the fact they were #1 in all the polls (AP, Coaches). [Massey isnt a poll.]

It's tricky - I can understand the desire to want to recognize a team that was #1 and didnt get a chance to compete for the title through no fault of its own. Bitter pill.

At least they didn't declare themselves National Champ.

FWIW, I dont think anyone was going to come close against Oregon.

"Unanimous" : (of an opinion, decision, or vote) held or carried by everyone involved.
Definitions from Oxford Languages

I think there are still votes for Oregon as #1. So it is not unanimous. But if Dawn will feel happy by claiming unanimous I am happy for her....

If you need to make an assumption of what the "unanimous" actually means on the banner then it does not become unanimous without an explanation.
