If she wants to develop her skills for the next level properly she won't go to South Carolina. Dawn has not extended the skill set yet of A'Ja, and might not. If she really wants to get better she should look at Stef Dolson, Morgan Tuck, and of course Stewie to see how a coach improves your game.

There is no development of post players going on at South Carolina at all? How did SC mange to get SEC player of the year, unanimous 1st Team AA PF and AA Center? If you want to spot growth/development in Wilson's game you might want look on the defensive side of the ball. You may be pleasantly surprised.

What makes you say this? A'ja was a third team All American last year and a first team All American this year. Sounds like an improvement to me.

Dawn has found a new way to recruit talent, just get the most talented of the transfers. If Stevens does end up in So Carolina, the most talented of the transfers over the last two years have gone to two schools Ohio State and So Carolina.

And Maryland.

Indeed. Wilson significantly improved her averages in pts, rebounds, blocked shots. She went from being someone that Staley ragged on defensively to being a pretty intimidating rim protector. She made strides. her shot is still a little bit flat, but I think she also improved her offensive moves.

I'd also say that Alaina Coates has also become a much more complete and consistent player. She can still extend her range and maybe develop a little more offense, but that isn't really her role on the squad.

Ibiam was also a player who made great strides in maximizing her game. And of course Welch got the very most out of her ability.

I'd actually put post development as one of the staff's strengths lately.

And very surprisingly for a former great PG, Dawn has seemed to struggle both attracting good guards and developing them. Sort of a strange situation.

Welcome aboard. Maryland has only had 1 player of consequence transfer in recently Ieshia Small. They have actually lost more in Lexie Brown.

Ah hell...I was thinking about Lexie. Mind freeze. And as you say, she transferred out of MD. You are right.

The info was reported in The State newspaper, Columbia SC and is the equivalent of CT' s Hartford Courant except it has a far superior sports section. Time will tell what the info reported is worth.

What sports are there to cover in a South Carolina newspaper? The Hartford Courant has to cover not only UConn, but also the Red Sox, Yankees, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, Mets, and Giants. Some times the Jets, Rangers, Knicks, Islanders, and Nets get a mention too - don't want to leave any of our area sports teams out!

A'ja is a significantly better player as a Sophomore then she was as a Freshmen. She became So Carolina's go to player over Tiffany Mitchell. Next year I suspect A'ja will be getting the accolades that Stewie got this year, especially if she improves her defense.

From what I've heard Stevens probably ends up at So Carolina because they're the team most ready to win a National Championship in her geographic region. Dawn could possibly have a starting lineup of A'ja Wilson, Azura Stevens, Kaela Davis Bianca Cuevas and Alissha Gray. A very high scoring offense.

Yeah, not sure where that "far superior sports section" comment came from either... and I've seen both newspapers.

A'ja and Azura at the 4 and 5, playing all over the court... I would LOVE this.

South Carolina is going to be stacked next year. My top 7 right now I think is ND (coaching and guard advantage), South Carolina, OSU, Maryland, Baylor, Texas, UConn.

There is only one basketball to go around. I am predicting it right now that SC will NOT win a NC while Wilson is there!

You may be right.. We may never win one. Hopefully you're wrong. Dawn teaches great team ball, sharing one basketball isn't our problem.

Our guards being able to make their shots has been our problem for the past three years.

SC has the elements of a great team, Davis and Gray have blended into the team perfectly.. Alisha and A'ja are basically best friends (guard to post chemistry). It's going to take a while for on court chemistry though that's why I have SC somewhere between 5-8..

Making shots seems to be a SEC problem in general for whatever reason. I think South Carolina takes home a title this year or next. They have too many good players, are coached well enough, and play some decent competition out of conference so they're not shell shocked by the other top teams come tourney time.

I'm not sure why you would say this. Wilson is not a selfish player. In fact, she should have been more aggressive getting the ball inside during that last game that they lost. She has her faults but she is only a sophomore. Wilson is a good defender but can be a better defender. She can be a smarter player. She should be better mid-range shooter. He shot looks flat.

If AS goes to SC that would be a truly dynamic front court.........if the guards play even fairly well they would be expected get to the NC game........if not win it.............

Some people think Davis and Gray will only be looking to shoot and not to pass the ball.

The were both in a position to shoot the ball where they were. I believe they are transferring for a chance to win a championship and want to be part of the team, not an individual player.
