Ayanna Patterson is BACK !!!

yay! i noticed she was dressed for the game on Saturday but didn't play. My guess was she was "back" but hadn't practiced yet or something, so was "game back".

Never in the last 20 years or so has a Freshman who has, up to this point, given minimal contributions to the team's winning record, been so welcomed by Uconn fans. I hope she gets to face off against Morrow for at least a few minutes. That is what I hope to see from Yanna over the next few years, not Morrow's production but rather her style of play.

Welcome back and be careful

She is a competent forward that can allow Aaliyah, Dorka, and Aubrey to rest without hurting the team. That has incredible value.

I love her hustle tonight. She beat a guard down the court to block her shot. Ayanna was busting her butt on the court tonight.

she seemed more focused and composed at both ends of the floor........I still think we're going to be treated to her breakout game before the season is over......
Wondering if her recovery time on the bench allowed her to see observe a bit more, knowing that she wasn't going to play. Sometimes all players need is time to see a bigger picture.

I had no idea she was that fast. I hope she stays in Storrs over the summer and gets the "Aaliyah training". You can't teach that athleticism she has but you can teach basketball skills. We have an All American we never expected this year because of that summer program and a very dedicated young woman.

I completely agree. Learning comes in phases. Knowing you aren't going to play can probably free your mind to just examine the game as it is happening and connect the dots between practice and the game.

It is as if she made up her mind while sitting that she was tired of sitting and made up her mind to just play instinctively and not over think things when she got healthy. I saw something in her last night that tells me she will be a player hard to deal with by other teams.

The real question is…….will she dunk?
I thought so during the summer. I saw her having 2-3 this far into the season. I’ve have backed way off of THAT prediction. Now I say no. Maybe next year.

Shout out to Ayanna. Let me tell you something, once Ayanna figures out her strength and relentless will to go for rebounds and score at will, she is going to be A PROBLEM! There was an instance in the game where she went up for a rebound. Just the way she attacks the basket, mixed with her athleticism, is a thing of beauty. Once her offensive game polishes up, Ayanna is the 3.0 version of Aubrey Griffin, maybe even better.
