Autry out at Syracuse

Officially done

High risk, high reward. If it works, he could be there for decades. But man, going from an NIL and resource advantage over all your conference mates to a seeming disadvantage over most of your conference mates along with JB still having a lot of sway in the program does not give me a ton of confidence in Gerry’s ability to turn this around.

I get the looming Boehim gif, but McNamara isn't so stupid that he would allow a nosepickers role to be a stipulation for getting the offer. I'd bet he had a talk with both Administration and Boeheim about a hands off policy with regards to the program. Doesn't mean JB won't be around, but he has no say. McNamara would be crazy to let Boeheim be involved. Calhoun is around, Hurley embraces his presence, Calhoun certainly will make a pointed comment or two, but it certainly is not impactful on Hurleys ability to coach.

Calhoun has A LOT more self awareness than JB.

It bothered a much less experienced coach at UConn. And McNamara is a less experienced coach also.

Yeah, I cannot remember Calhoun really talking much about the program in anything but a positive way since he left other than in the run-up/wake of the KO fiasco. Happy to be corrected there if I missed something.

A self aware person would see the absolute disaster he forced on the program with Autry and not decide he should be heavily involved in selecting the next inexperienced coach as well. And yet here we are.

Pretty sure Boeheim didn't want Autry and wanted them to hire Gerry from the beginning.

Don't know if anyone else watched Hodgson's press conference today at Providence, but he came out and said he was offered multiple Power Conference jobs in the last week. Seemed to be hinting at Syracuse as one of those spots.

Having watched that entire presser, Hodgson will fit right in there.

Haha. The gold chains and flashy clothes. The man was made for Providence. They’ll be very happy there.

I’m excited to see what he can do there. I continually advocate for PC as a sleeping giant program. They put the passion and resources into their program. They deserve a Top 25 program.

I'm not saying he's speaking untruthfully, but it's very surprising that someone would take the PC job if offered P4 jobs. Cuse not withstanding.

If it's Cuse then I dont give a rat's arse

I'm not all that bothered by age gaps like the young, but in this context, it's worth noting they met while he was a coach at Alabama under Oats and she was an undergrad. She graduated Alabama in 2021. Certainly seems like the sort of relationship a looked on a bit less favorably these days.

They seem very happy, and he certainly feels like he was the winner in this (and it seems so in looks). So bully for them.
That is more than I ever expected to know about the personal life of a Providence College basketball coach

Came across it online only because of him drawing attention to her, and only said something because you noted the weirdness.

So it goes.
