August UConn recruiting thread

FWIW, Nika and Ice started following Ines Bettencourt on Instagram sometime in the last 24 hours. So that makes five players and Morgan Valley.
 
Morgan now following 2025 guard Bella Hines out of New Mexico.

UConn apparently took notice of Hines' 67-point AAU performance earlier in August. Sounds like the interest is mutual.

The exposure she received from the weekend has also put her in the recruiting spotlight. Already with multiple offers, including UNM, power five schools are beginning to take notice.

Never seen a monthly reruiting thread fall this low on the page. Of course, it drops tomorrow, but two whole day without activity?! You Dogs are getting complacent. Okay, I guess 2023 class is set barring a MAJOR late add. Sptember is upon us, and hallowed November is fast approaching.

Who are UConns top ten targets, suspected offers and POIs for 2024?

I know that I am wrong here but from back post I thought only four names have been mentioned. And, they were Olivia Olson; Sarah Strong; Allie Ziebell and Imari Berry.

What I love about recruiting is the surprise announcements. Those always make us sparkle with pleasure and excitement. Hopefully, recruits will decide on their futures soon.

Well a BUNCH of names have been "mentioned" as POI's including Justice Carlton 6-2 F from Texas who impressed a bunch of people over the Summer and has UConn in her Top 20/ . . . uhm . . . 21 . . . whatever?

I am primarily interested (of course) in players we are both chasing. I won't list our offers for fear of a @HuskyNan spanking. However, I have seen UConn posters mention Joyce Edwards, Jaloni Cambridge and Kendall Dudley - to name a few.

I Kitts did not list UConn as a finalist. Would indicate that UConn probably didn't offer. I can't see any wbb prospect eliminating UConn as a finalist. Might not choose them in the end, but they should (with a few rare exceptions) always be in the running to the end if they have offered.

Having seen videos of both, and Prosper is now ranked higher than Thomas. They’re both really good players. But I just am more impressed by Thomas. Opponents bounce off her and she’s the kind of player teammates rally around.

Any of these players would also be huge additions. Hopefully, UConn is still in the works.
 
How about adding Juju Watkins... any news as to where she is interested in going? Her recruiting seems very clandestine- ish..

I agree. No hints of potential "finalists" being dropped anywhere. Having signed with an agent, she MAY be waiting on the best NIL packages. Many are still in the formative stage.

If Coach Valley isn’t following on Instagram or Coach Dailey on Twitter, I wouldn’t consider them a POI.

She’s had relationships with Paige & the Fudd’s prior to their UConn arrival and she’s AAU teammates with Qadence.

It's a strong indication that player is a POI. It's only occasionally an indicator of interest on the players part. That said, not following can also occasionally be an indicator of interest if both the player and the program wish for discretion. Also, as you know, some players are followed at the last minute before committing for multiple reasons.

Personally I'd take any one of them but two would be so much better.

Juste Jocyte is unique! I've seen some of her games /highlights over the last two years.
Somehow, I had the feeling that she would not be interested in a USA college, or if she came
it might be only for two years. She takes control, sometimes after a slow (?) start and handles
the ball in the final quarter just begging to be fouled! I've seen her only miss one foul shot in
clutch time. Would it be great for her to come to UCONN? Of course, time will tell!

Soltau (who knows?)
El Alfy (yes)
Prosper (think so but not 100% certain)
Booker (ship sailed a while ago; likely to Tennessee but a final visit to Texas)
Jocyte (not sure she is 2023 but I would be shocked if she left Europe to play college ball)

I’ve also been on the Delaney Thomas train! However, there doesn’t seem to be much evidence of mutual interest with UConn. It’s a bit hard to sniff out who is recruiting DT. I did see on social media that she was hanging out with Kiki Rice in LA so it’s very much possible that UCLA is recruiting her?

I wouldn’t say it’s that strong an indicator, but from the perspective of being on the outside looking in, it’s probably the only thing we can work with, especially since Coach Valley’s arrival.

Her following players on Instagram typically means that UConn is interested, I’ve noticed the same with Coach Staley.
