Nice to see her out there...
It was very sad that we never got to see Aubrey go in a straight line of development. I saw her live the first time at Walsh ,where I saw her father play, when she was a freshman and she was just unreal getting what probably was her career high in points and turning the game around. Her athleticism and instincts on defense were remarkable. I also thought her drafting was more of a compliment to to the team but she really looks damn good in these clips and I really hope she has a career. She always has been a player that makes things happen out there, the walking embodiment of the definition of a women's basketball floor player.I never even considered the possibility that Aubrey could earn a spot on a WNBA roster. But it sure looks like a possibility and there is no coach in the W more favorable towards UConn Alums than Cheryl Reeve. Good for Aubrey.
I saw Aubrey play several times as a senior in HS. She had dealt with a number of serious injuries in HS prior to having a relatively healthy senior season. She was spectacular in every phase of the game, including her ability to knock down shots from the arc. Obviously, at UConn she dealt with several more serious injuries that never allowed her to develop as we all thought she would. It was very sad that we never got to see Aubrey go in a straight line of development. Felt the same way. Thought the injuries just took too much of a toll on the kid. I'm elated I was wrong. Hope she sticks, she more than "deserves a break today!"I never even considered the possibility that Aubrey could earn a spot on a WNBA roster. Me too. She looks really good. Her value to a team is her strength and quickness and her nose for the ball. She can score and shoot, but so much of her game is about her tremendous athleticism, her long arms and strong hands. I tend to think of her as a bigger Gabby. One of the things that impressed me the most about these clips from her 1st game with MN is just how well she’s moving on the court. If she can stay healthy, and that’s a big if, Aubrey has always had the ability to excel on the court. I am pulling for her, as I’m sure every UConn fan is doing.
