UConn has been pretty effective this season running a man-to-man press. Once Aubrey is back and healthy, I would not be surprised to see UConn also employ a diamond press with Aubrey at the point, something they did with great effectiveness a year or so back.

I have described Aubrey as an athletic octopus, who’s all arms and legs, capable of snatching passes out of mid-air and turning them into easy transition baskets…:)

While we have been practicing the UConn press, that practice also get us ready for Tennesee.
TN press seems to be wearing down or at least it appears that opponents are making quick adjustments to it. They have these hockey shift changes and everyone doesn't have that engine to go all out on both ends of the floor. I noticed in their more competitive games a few players are in well past the prior 18-20 minutes a game. Aubrey will definitely be a plus with her movement. UCONN has plenty of shooters (who at some point stand around) and not enough slashers and finishers at the rim.

What amazes me about TN is how the math works. Miss St was handling it in the first half, then in 2nd half started turning it over.

Sure enough TN got 20+ turnovers, more shots, and took more 3's again.

TN just keeps at it, believing that even a surè handed team will eventually succumb.

We've seen they can be beaten, so I am more curious than concerned for our game. It is interesting to look at their boxscores.

Back to UConn. If we do end up pressing in NCAA, that's where our depth could get some minutes, and have Geno use a bigger group than he usually does.

Where did Dan Hurley go to college?

Hurley spent his college career as a point guard at Seton Hall, a Big East rival of UConn both then and now. He spent his final two seasons as the Pirates' starting point guard after three seasons under coach P.J. Carlesimo.

Hurley played alongside a couple of notable figures with the Pirates, spending time as teammates with current Bulls head of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas as well as former NBA player and coach Adrian Griffin
. [Adrian is Aubrey’s father]

I don't understand tweets like this. Either she's healthy enough to play or not. If's there's any doubt then don't play her. For the amount of time she has been out, I seriously doubt 1 day makes a difference.
I’m sure this decision will be made by Aubrey, thus the open ended answer. She has likely been cleared to play by the Medical people but , just as they did with Paige and Azzi, the actual play/don’t play decision for this first game will be left to the player. Minutes, expectations etc will be set by Geno but they will leave it up to Aubrey to say, “I’m ready” or “I’m not feeling it, Coach”. After she gets back into the routine of playing, things will return to normal but this first time back they will be ultra deferential to the player. They will want her to feel fully comfortable with playing that first game.

Probably true, but she's been participating in pregame warmups for about a month. I suspect she's been doing at least low intensity drills between games. Maybe the runway to 100% won't be that long. Having said that, I don't think Aubrey is the savior that many BY'ers hope and believe she will be. UConn will go where they will go even without Aubrey being the difference maker. I am (a minority opinion here) tampering down my enthusiasm. Aubrey, make my look stupid (please)!
If she is fully healthy, there is no reason to think she will not be the same (perhaps better) game changing player off the bench she has always been! Sure, we cannot expect that her first game back, but I definitely believe she could be a huge factor by March!

It will really exciting to have Aubrey playing again. She is amazing at times and as others have stated she is a very gifted athlete. She will make a difference in some games because of her speed in the transition game and her defensive intensity. she is also a great rebounder for her size and can defend well against taller opponents similar to how Gabby did. I think if she does like Gabby and she developes her guard skills she will become a very successful pro.

All great experiences for Dan but I'm sure he would say growing up in the Hurley household with Bob Hurley a HOF high school basketball coach and brother Bobby former AA point guard at Duke, NBA and now coach at ASU was more influential in his basketball know-how than anything he may have learned playing in college.

As I understand it. Once a player is cleared the final medical restrictions and give the green light to play it’s then up to the player to feel confident that they’re ready to play. Wit limited minutes of course.

Coaching staff have just been waiting for Aubrey to say she’s ready to go.

The point is that Aubrey’s dad was Dan’s teammate at Seton Hall
