Aubrey Griffin's 'home game' this season?

Any game in the NYC area or Connecticut are her home games. She lives a couple hours from Storrs.
 
The Huskies played last month at Minnesota, a homecoming for Paige Bueckers. They will play Dec. 20 at Toronto Metropolitan, a few hours’ drive from Aaliyah Edwards childhood Ontario home. Some kind of celebration might surround the Huskies’ game Jan. 13 at St. John’s for graduate student Aubrey Griffin, of nearby Ossining.

Her home town family, friends and fans driving into the Bug Apple at rush hour is a nightmare. Waiting to hear how many vehicles are broken into and how many are randomly accosted on the street.

Iona and Army are just 20 miles away and Fairfield is less than an hour with little traffic.

Guess our AD will simply call Azzi's 'home game' Georgetown. The AD won't bother calling Univ of MD, George Mason, George Washington and others to make Azzi's game a special one for her.

P.S. I do know that schools have turned us down for these 'home' games.

You have obviously never visited West Point. It is tighter than a drum these days, unlike the three years I was stationed there 45 years ago.

1. It's a short train ride from Ossining to NYC. Your image of what the streets of NY are like tell me you never visited. And the last time there was "little traffic" from Ossining to Fairfield was before Henry Ford built his first factory.

A "short" train ride to NYC takes over an hour to Grand Central and then about another hour to UBS Arena. Over two hours easily.

NYC residents should always of their surroundings. I used to live there, not just visit. You obviously are not reading and watching MSM about the random violence and the aggravated shoplifting.

And a beautiful scenic ride on the Merritt Parkway is priceless.

Her Ossining group should enjoy a ride to a special game that celebrates her Huskies career. Not a conference game.

While you're munching down your Kellogg's, you can research where our seniors who have spent more than one year in Storrs have played their "home" games over the past 10 seasons.
 
I would think that Aubrey's home game might have to factor in the availability of her father and possibly her brother. It is my understanding that their schedules are pretty tight this season.

It's priceless because it happens so infrequently. I worked in Stamford over 45 years ago and the Merritt even then was a parking lot during rush hour. It can take an hour on the Merritt just to get from the NY line to the High Ridge Rd exit in Stamford. On I-95 it's an hour getting from the Mianus River Br to Westport. I've been to NYC many times, mostly at night and walking the streets and riding the subways. It's no different than walking outside the XL.

I wasn't disagreeing about the travel time. It was the picture you painted of the streets of NY and the length of the trip to Fairfield.

I’ve gone to a number of different sporting events at West Point over the last two years. While things were tight for a short period of time, over the last 18 months it never took me more than three minutes to get through the gate (Stony Lonesome) and go to the arena or field.

I appreciate most of the posts on this topic. While I could post some NYC links, I think we've should resume discussing Aubrey's contributions over the years.
 
Isn't it too late to add another game to this season's schedule? Especially if UConn has to schedule it around her father's availability?

It's too late mostly because UConn already has the maximum allowable games on their schedule. But that doesn't really matter since no one associated with UConn has even had a passing thought on this subject. Just a way for some people to kill time.
