At this point, what will you consider a successful season?

This still feels like an overreaction . Our NET is 35 and we’re 5-4 in Quad 1 games
I don't follow this stuff closely but I notice that CBS Sports had 16-9 Georgia with a 35 NET as a last 4 in yesterday. 19-5 SMU with a 37 NET as first 4 out. 16-8 BYU with a 39 NET last 4 out. UConn now sits at 17-8 with a 35 NET.

Mine haven't changed. The focus is on this loss right now. We threw up a stinker, but we beat
Baylor
Texas
Gonzaga
Marquette
Creighton

A deep run in the NCAA Tournament
And we lost to Colorado and Seton Hall. Two of the worst teams in a major conference

It’s because Georgia is 2-10 Quad 1 and 1-6 on the road. SMU is 0-4 Quad 1. The committee tells us year after year they care about good non-conference wins and good road wins. We’re set in both categories. We’re in barring a complete meltdown

Thanks, I watch so many games but I never really follow the bracketology stuff. Good breakdown from you.

I would normally string up someone bringing it up on this board, but I hope the team is watching the women play today. The men do have the talent to do well in the tournament, but they need to play with the kind of intensity the women are playing with today every game (granted, its much easier mentally when playing a top team, but still.)

The difference is the women have multiple #1 overall recruits and now are more healthy and showing intensity today. The men's team is not that talented as we thought they would be.

What’s actually funny is that this is the first big game the women have won this year (no jinx hopefully).

All of our losses have been 5 points or less except Dayton. People are going overboard
I want to win another chip
It’s how we’ve lost, how we’ve responded to adversity, and how we’ve been playing in general.

It'll be interesting to see our seed. I reckoned the Creighton win might push us to a 7 seed. This Seton Hall might even cost us two seed lines. So unless UConn goes on a surprising run to end the season, we might be a 9 or 10 seed.

Most #1 seeds won't be thrilled to see us in their pod. (If we get past the first game)

Kinda reminds me of the schizophrenic nature of a low seeded (#10 or #11) Michigan State or UCLA from a few years ago.

I will admit the season has been hard on us fans. So I am lowering my expectations and will just enjoy them the rest of the way. I also don’t expect them to win a national championship by double digits. It should be harder this time around for sure!

.-.
Or it's just fans reacting to our worst loss since the 2019-2020 season under Hurley and arguably our biggest late game meltdown we've seen as Husky fans.
Or perhaps the 2nd worst loss by a defending national champ since they’ve been keeping records.

Let’s hold judgement until we see what happens. There are still many big games on our schedule the rest of Feb and 3 in March.
Hurley and staff get a lot of rope to get us right.
Think 2011. Pray 2011.

getting Dan Hurley to stop publicly embarrassing us while gaining some of our goodwill back

I'm still not convinced they can't come together in the next month and win the whole thing. Bill Parcells had a saying about the playoffs - just get in! Anything can happen. They have to work on in bounds passing, time clock awareness, 3 point D and not making ill advised passes. If they come together, everybody jelling, the coaches at their best, they can beat anybody. I'll believe they can't win it all when they are eliminated. Whatever happens, we have nothing to complain about after the last 2 years and our incoming class.
Seems like that happened in 11 & 14. Liam will have to lead them like Kemba & Bazz.

That the exits from the two tournaments isn't as painful as yesterday.

This team can still beat everyone if they stop beating themselves. But it pretty clear that they will lose to the first team that plays tough man to man defense. That's assuming we don't have two or more players have off an shooting night.

They were outplayed yesterday big time. They blew it twice. Make the tournament and play hungry regardless of what they think of the opponent. Everyone is going to give UConn their best effort

And two games we lost bc of refs who decided to swallow whistles. Very odd that we lost both of them but we have some very good wins. They care about who you can beat.

There are 6 games left for everyone not named Hassan or Alex to learn how to play "UConn basketball". Ball is getting there. Liam is capable of it. Samson and Reed both can contribute but neither is Sanogo or Clingan. That's what we're rolling with.

Stewart is probably the best hope of a meaningful bench contributor, but he's far short of the kind of plug-and-play guys who've been on our bench the past couple years. Really no hope for Mahaney or Ross at this point.

I would do something completely wild and play Nowell significant minutes vs Johnnies. It's the only game we're projected to lose and one where losing it isn't going to matter vis a vis seeding. If Nowell can deal with Johnnies, then Dan Hurley has 4 games to get him fully integrated before the BET. If Nowell doesn't work out, we're no worse than we are.

I don't know what's up with Abraham, but hey, maybe same thing applies there, but only for the minutes Ross would get.

This team has to go at least 4-2 reg season and win 1 NBE game to ensure a tourney seed above 9 IMHO
As some have said I hope there isn't a collapse.

My wildest dream is to play the 2nd weekend
Realistically - lose a nail biter in round of 32 to a high ranked opponent.

You could argue a 10 is better than the 8/9 if the goal is to win 2 games.

It's the difference between facing Auburn/Duke/Alabama/Florida vs facing Tenn/Houston/Purdue/Texas A&M. Neither group is enticing, but if firing on all cylinders, we could take out a couple in that 2nd group.

I agree with a lot of this. I’d start Nowell tbh. Move Diarra, Samson and Stewie to the bench. They were difference makers last year for us coming off the bench. I’d roll with Nowell and Reed as starters.

Mahaney unfortunately should never see the court again. What a disappointment. NIL robbery

could not agree more

Purdue has fallen off that two line hard.
