The weird thing is he was listed this past offseason than was taken off the directory while having UConn in his twitter bio
 
I keep getting this Mike Ryan with the Mike Ryan that was actually on our roster 11 years ago out of PA...

Looks like this one (that didn't actually play for us) has been preparing himself for the opportunity to coach for quite some time... Glad he's in the mix....

He didn’t play at UConn but he did work here as a student assistant for three years and has spent years at Maine coaching mainly LB with some DL. He was the DC before we hired their head coach

Just noticed that John Allen, wide receiver coach is no longer listed as a coach
on the UConn web site. Did I just miss it?

Interesting, I had noticed a while back that PC was following WR coaches from Troy and Georgia St.

Mora has also started following a WR coach from Arizona around the same time.

He is the only coach I have not seen to be involved with the recruiting visits and wasn’t mentioned in the tweet about the reload but analyst Christian Pace was

Extremely clear our WR coach is probably gone... no reference of UConn (but he still uses the fonts/colors)... I liked him.. wish we could've seen what he could've brought out of our WR corp in Year 2

 
I know there were injuries at the top of the depth chart but nothing about the WR's stood out last season and I am fully confident the WR coach position can be backfilled without a drop off in productivity.

Allen apparently left w/o a offer in hand....or so it seems. I wish him the best - never heard of any drama.

I heard the same thing too. I wonder if he was just a placeholder for someone Mora wanted last year but couldn’t get and or because of performance on the field.
 
An interesting semi related note, Ryan Osborne who UConn maybe hired but maybe it never actually happened before he got an opportunity with the Ravens is the new DC/OLBs at Charlotte. Worked at Michigan with Biff.

I'm amazed that there's been little discussion in the media regarding the position. We'd have a 500-page thread on our board full of dudes ready to take the ledge if things drug out this long. All kidding aside, but it feels like there has to be some movement soon. It feels necessary to have someone in place in the lead up to Spring Practice so everybody gets on the same page sooner than later.

The lack of concern/noise only makes sense If the position(s) were filled from folks already in the building.

Things have been relatively quiet all around the program in the new year.

Or the staff already are on the same page? I’m impressed with how our defense played last year, better than what it was the years before. Maybe the staff are willing let Mora call the plays on defense and on top of that he gets input from them on certain plays to call in game. It seems Mora isn’t a micromanager and is okay giving free reigns to the offense since Charlton is the Assistant Head Coach.
