APG is now down to 12.8 on the season. Last three games 9.3. Memphis leads the conference at 17.4. We are 149th in the country. With two PG playing together we should be much better. Clear indication of lack of ball movement. Another cause for the low APG is the poor hands of our big men.

I think it's a clear indication that our wings and post players can't shoot off the dribble and can't create enough or consistently to help the assist totals………Giffey's making less and Kromah's making almost nothing for a while now……..We know Omar can't and the bigs aren't mature enough offensively so it all falls on the 2 guards and DD………and as yesterday showed when all 3 are bad we can get beat by virtually anyone and look pretty bad doing it!

That's a truly horrendous number. Even more concerning, they're down nearly 1 assist per game from last year, despite having a larger number of options. (Omar being a shell of himself has certainly hurt the offense at times.)

I know criticizing Ollie's offense isn't allowed on these parts, but it really needs a lot of work. Yes, it's hard to have a consistent offense when it is so reliant on guards and hitting perimeter jumpshots, but that doesn't explain the complete lack of ball movement at times.

For comparisons, let's look at some of the other guard-oriented teams in college basketball since UConn's backcourt is considered to be among the elite. Granted, this is a very simple comparison, but here is how UConn stacked up against 'em:

- UConn: 74.9 ppg, 12.8 apg, 1.1 A/TO ratio
- Villanova: 79.9 ppg, 16.0 apg, 1.3 A/TO ratio
- Michigan State: 77 ppg, 17.3 apg, 1.5 A/TO ratio
- Oklahoma State: 81.3 ppg, 13.6 apg, 1.3 A/TO

The only one on that list they're close to is an underperforming Oklahoma State team. Not a good trend.

The lack of ball movement is pointed directly at the passers I believe and not the offense itself. Besides Bazz and occasionally Boat, who is a dynamic passer or even one who doesn't scare you a bit with the ball……..?

Hard to run a real good offense without good passers………DD, Giff, Kromah and Omar aren't close to solid passers in fact they are mostly scary with the ball in one on one situations……..

Giffey, Kromah and company not hitting shots is 1 thing, but in the case of yesterday's game I saw little attempt by Bazz and moreso Boat to get them the ball. Giffey actually did a decent scoring job in the first half. without the threat of a pass, someone penetrating the lane is a lot easier to defend. Whether the team is hitting shots or not, the ball must be shared better.

I think Ollie hit it on the head when he said the players need to learn to trust each other. I don't think Bazz and Boat really trust their teammates so when the going gets tough they look to themselves plus DD and it ends there.
