I was at those bonfires too! I lived in litchfield dorm from '89 to '91 when winning was a relatively new phenomenon.

I was in Hurley. My couch was in the quad before Tate's shot hit the floor. Somehow the fire had already started. Nobody hurt, and I don't think any non-participants property was damaged. Good times.

I was in the Jungle a few years later, mid '90's. I don't think we burned any couches when Ray made the shot to beat Iverson / GTown but I seem to recall some fireworks at least. The sofas in the dorms were more or less safe, but in Carriage House during spring weekend they were an endangered species.

just wanted to give these fellas below some love. . . .this was taken soon after game day bus pulled in around 2ish Friday. Yeah, they gotta figure out a system to get the folks who were first in line Friday to get first seats for the actual game. Maybe Mr. Manuel can take charge so the first shall be first.
And FWIW I had the honor of accompanying the bus on to campus (had to drop off camping stuff for my student).

You don't think the campouts make sense, you think the students are whiny and you prefer the XL center over Gampel. Honestly, just post that anyone under the age of 25 should get off your lawn and we can all move on.

What did I say that wasn't accurate?

This is the exact opposite of what happened. They allowed us to line up at Gampel at 2 pm today, so we all lined up after gameday at the co-op across the street. Then at 1:55 every made a mad dash across the street and only one group that camped out got in the front from what I could see. I'm now in my apartment having gotten to Gampel at 6:30 yesterday and I'm going to be sitting in the upper deck tonight. At least I don't have to stand in the cold anymore today.

FYI at the first Gameday against Pitt what they did was give everyone at Gameday a numbered wristband to get back in line numerically a few hours before the game. I don't believe they announced that but I gotta believe they would do the same this year to reward the die-hards. It was hectic getting everyone in line but actually worked out pretty well

This. I remember that night well. It was cold as and they let everyone come inside Gampel the night before and Digger/Bilas/Reece all did a Q&A session with everyone for a little while. It was really an awesome experience. They gave us our wristbands that night and then we got to go in first for Gameday the next morning.

If I remember correctly - wasn't that the first Gameday for basketball they ever did? Love being first.

Weak. We were camped out 3 days before the Pitt gameday until they made us go home because it was below zero with the wind chill. Guess the kids really are smarter these days

+1 ... for 05' game day Gample was surrounded by tents ... and it was a BLIZZARD that day. Those of us that fought the mob for season tickets made the most of it. Game day at Storrs looked awkward just saying. Regardless thanks to all those students currently at UConn bringing the value of my degree up.

I would like to add .. things I saw and took pride in during my time in Storrs.. Men's and Women's same year National Championships ... National Championship Fires and Parties ....first ever college basketball game day ... Calhoun career win 700 ... UConn football's first game at the Rent .. Uconn's football's first Big East game at Boston College (unfortunately) .... and o yea spring weekend.

That sucks. People should show some respect.

Yeah it was a gigantic clusterfuck. I ended up getting 4th row. So many people from the South entrance crossed over and took seats on the North side because they werent consistent with letting people in from both sides, else I probs woulda gotten 2nd row. Still cant complain at all, was a fantastic time.

"Yeah it was a gigantic clusterI have a small penis." Why do you feel it necessary to inform THE BONEYARD YEAAA that you have a small penis?
