Correction: I heard now that she has just been medically cleared to play (she injured her knee last year in her senior high school season). However, no word whether she actually will play or take a redshirt. Regardless, she is unlikely to be in position to contribute meaningful minutes in the near future.
 
I just wanted to update my post. Arkansas vs UConn will not be broadcasted on ESPN3. The game is only being broadcasted on SNY. Maybe after the game someone will post it on youtube (:. *I was spoiled last year, I could watch our games both ways.

Hope SNY puts together a nice extended pregame (season opening) show. Anyone have any details?
 
I watched the men's game on the Fox Sports App last night. Great broadcast, easy to navigate the app. Sunday's game will be on this app. The good thing about the app is that if you are joining late or miss it, the game is available for a couple of days.
 
Last year they pulled Liv outside and had Dungee drive with wild abandon into the lane and none of our defenders could stop her. We gave them lots of free points at the foul line. We need to leave a big at home to stop that. They also killed us by hitting an unusually high amount of threes. How Geno defends this team will be interesting. He has so many more pieces to use as he said in his presser after the Fort Hays scrimmage he can change game to game or matchup to matchup. Now if I can get the game on anything other than Fox Sports app I will be in heaven. I used to miss parts of some games due to their streaming failures. I actually signed up for youtube tv after others said how good it was. I don't know if the shorts and sandals life is worth it in Fla. I might have to move back north but I gave away my shovels and ice choppers and salt.

Ramirez is a great shooter, but she doesn’t present nearly the challenge that Dungee & Slocum presented last year. Ramirez is basically a catch and shoot 3 pt threat. Dungee and Slocum could beat defenders off the dribble.

true but she's the best three point shooter they have this season and she can go off for 20 plus points quite easily if not hounded.....
 
Daniels last year stayed in the right corner and when the drivers were stopped or collapsed on they fed her and she was drillin and thrillin the crowd with corner threes. Aaliyah or Caroline are long enough if they zone them to get out and pull a long arm in her face.

I watched some of the game. Tarleton is not a good team. Many of Arkansas’s misses were wide open shots. UConn has significantly more length and athleticism and will challenge many of those shots.

That’s right. Geno has a plethora of very capable and knowledgeable coaches and advisers at his disposal all season here in the yard if he needs us. He knows that. :D

HuskyinSC, I love this post, and agree 100% with its content and direction. I nominate it for Post Of The Day!! (POD) :) This should be a “statement“ game in more ways than one as you mentioned in the last two sentences.

Last year's UConn team was not up to UConn standards defensively until sometime during the second half of the season. And in particular, their guards would beat our guards. In the Arkansas game they beat us from the arc and driving--resulting in lots of free throws. This year's club will be much better on defense from the get-go.

BTW, if you judge the quality of a team by where it is seeded, last year's loss to Arkansas was our worst loss since 2005. Arkansas was a 4 seed, Prior to that game, we lost in OT to an eventual 4-seed Stanford in 2014/15, and to 7-seed Boston College and 5-seed ASU in 2005.
 
I strongly suspect that while not being as able as last years team in potentially pulling off upsets, they will certainly be more consistent.

I predict Azzi and Evina will get Goforth while Chrystin and Nika will get Ramirez. I wonder if we'll see a lot of the 4 G line up in response to AR lack of healthy size.

They play Arkansas Pine Bluff on Friday.
I would think some nosy Boneyarders...or even an Arkansas fan or two...might post those scores

Arkansas Pine Bluff cannot be an exhibition since they are a D1 team. Tarleton State had the option to designate it as an exhibition game for their record - even if Arkansas counted it in their regular season schedule - but they did not do that.

not sure......perhaps so but maybe Geno will also want to see what happens if he pounds it inside with ONO/Edwards and Dorka/Edwards or even ONO and Dorka together.......the nice thing about UConn's bigs is that they get up and down the court pretty well......

Last year when the ball went inside they doubled and tripled Liv and she would bring the ball down and they would steal it. It has to come in high and never go down to be able to kick back to Paige Evina Azzi Caroline and Christyn. Dorka and Aaliyah have to do the same. I am sure they will have practiced this issue all week. Our bigs didn't score last year because of this. We don't need them to. They just have to kick it out to our shooters.

Dorka seems to be an excellent finisher even when well covered.........perhaps she'll play down low........

Geno has choices and I think Liv will start and if she doesnt produce he will make the change
