Sam Thomas must have a hell of a wing span. She's under 6' but she gets so many blocks, tipped passes and steals.
Sam Thomas for DPOY (Thread)?

Hope you enjoyed. I made the game, I was next to Joan Bonvicini, in fact I had to slide over so she could get out to do interviews. I love our floor seats (my wife wasn't well enough to attend).Amazing energy tonight. McDonald' double double, great defense ..... Much of the night baseline to baseline and an unbelievable crowd.
After the game Coach Barnes said the crowd support was key to the W.
Great win for the Cats and a very disappointing lose for ASU. Anytime Robbi has to take 21 shots, ASU is in trouble.
As a Sun Devil I envy this type of community support. McKale was rocking. Barnes will be tough to recruit against with this type of fan energy.
Alonso is a calming presence. Offense may be sporadic but she rarely makes the big mistake either.Alonso on the floor, don't like it. She hasn't done anything tonight.
McBryde with a big 3. 48-42.
Good point. It's also smart bringing in a Zona legend like Barnes, the only UA player to be a PAC POY.. She not only has focused on building a great team, but getting fan support like Rueck and Graves have done for the Oregon Teams. With the Oregon schools sellouts and UA turnout, it's impressive.Arizona is fortunate that Arizona State swept the Oregon schools, because otherwise their resume at this point would be a mound of meh.
Robbi Ryan was stellar, but Reili Richardson came up with a goose egg tonight. I have to say, Reili is great as a floor leader but her lack of development as an offensive threat has been a disappointment.
What can you say about the turnout. Tucson is a great college town and now a waking giant of WBB.
CTT wasn't happy with the call and walked away angry. She is very skilled at what to say within limits and walking away without earning a tech for her complaining.
I wish that Arizona's Sam Thomas would shoot in this game.
I think Bonvicini is trying too hard to not sound biased toward the school she used to coach.
Yep! While the Devil's lost, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Tucson fans were completely into the game, the noise was thunderous at key moments.Hope you enjoyed. Great excitement, one of the best games I have been to in years.

A couple of years ago UA had a tall French girl, who I think never played. Any idea what the story is/was with her?![]()

This is interesting. I couldn't help reflect leaving McKale last night what a tremendous recruiting opportunity it is to have a young lady recruit be in that environment and consider being a part of a growing program with what appears to be an amazing fan base. Barnes does seem to instill loyalty in her players. McDonald is a bit of a prima donna. Maybe Barnes would be able to mentor and guide Pitts. If they add her they'll be something next year.
Arizona is becoming a bit of a Transfer U: McDonald, McBryde, Pellington, and now possibly Pitts.![]()

The refs' incompetence reminded me of the refs in the AAC. ASU got jobbled throughout the contest.

Russell and Ruden and also graduate. Solid incoming freshman class and Van Hefte and Imbulito and Walker will be a nucleus to build around. Agreed next year rebuilding. My guess is that the Wildcats weren't on any of these players' radar initially but that Barnes' charisma, program-building, and results are attracting new recruits. It'll be interesting to see if that continues in a few years if the program keeps moving up the PAC-12 food chain. Among other things, it's really hard to see how ASU will stay competitive with a relatively bare recruiting cupboard and the losses of Ryan, Richards, and Tapley.
YOU LIKE BONVICINI’s color commentary??? No, just no. I have listened to her call 4 games now and the only positive I can say is she’s better than the women who called the Oregon State vs. Oregon game as they were downright AWFUL.I liked Bonvicini's color commentary. You could tell from listening that she was proud of what has happened to the Arizona program, and proud of Adia Barnes.

Bonvicini has some good comments to make but I can't help but feel like I'm listening to my great aunt who always had a little too much to drink.YOU LIKE BONVICINI’s color commentary??? No, just no. The "intentional" foulncall in the 1st Qtr? The many questionable foul calls on McDonald whonwas driving out of control into the paint? The many missed traveling calls on UofA? Did you actually watch the game? What are you talking about?
