Allonzo Trier just committed.

That's just going to be a fearsome lineup in the next few years.

I'm starting to believe he is the best recruiter in the country.

He might be the best recruiter, but obviously can't win the big game. With a loaded lineup he lost to Wisconsin in Elite 8, Wisconsin.

He does that with a loaded lineup every year. Loses in a tight spot.

I will take what UCONN does every year. Recruit guys that will be here for a couple of years, and those high end guys that might only give us 1-2 years. Proved us well last 20 years. In KO I trust.

The "Miller can't win" idea is simple minded.

He'll win a title - he's 45 years old and has already been to the NCAA tourney seven times. (Five Sweet Sixteens, three Elite Eights.) That's a solid resume for a guy who has 25 years of coaching in front of him.

My buddy, who is an AZ alum and very tuned in to their recruiting, told me a while ago that their class would be Smith, Simon, Rabb, Trier and Comanche. His prediction is starting to look pretty darned good. Of course I pointed out that recruiting rankings are fine and dandy but we have 4 titles and they have a paltry 1.

His team did put a grand spanking on top-seeded Duke once. Ran over them with a truck, then backed the truck up and ran over their corpses. That team almost derailed the Kemba express.

Too soon to talk about his overall big game ability. Wisky was good this year and Arizona had a key injury, so I don't consider that a blight on his resume.

They have Bay Area, CA / Oakland Soldiers AAU players on lock. Aaron Gordon, Stanley Johnson, Gabe York, Brandon Ashley, Nick Johnson, and now probably Ivan Rabb and maybe Blackwell.

First, I agree, I love the way we recruit, I love our team first mentality.

But really? Sean Miller can't win? He's won everywhere he's coached. I believe someone mentioned this as well but he's only 45 years old. And he's had talent before but never like he does now, and it may be better in '15 depending on who stays in school. I predict he'll be proving you wrong very soon.

It's worse than simple minded - it reeks of denial and pettiness.

Guy has been a head coach for 10 seasons. 10. Five of those were at Xavier, which can hardly be considered top tier BB school from which to recruit. Notwithstanding that, he makes 1st round, 2nd round, Sweet 16, and Elite 8. Pretty damn good for a 2nd or 3rd tier BBall school.

Then he moves over to Arizona, so now he's at the top of the second tier. Good for recruiting and so on. Takes a year to get up and running. He then goes first round, Sweet 16, Elite 8, Elite 8. All but the bluebloods would consider that to be an outstanding 4 year run.

IIRC JC coached at Northeastern for 14 years and never made it out of the 1st weekend of the tourni.
Then he coached at UConn for another 11 years and never made the FF with 3 Elite 8s. A couple of those teams were "loaded."

So let's give credit where it's due. Especially because we're at the top of the mountain now. Nothing - I mean nothing - seems more petty and classless as bashing an up and coming talent when you're the established talent.

He's very, very good, and it is much more likely than not that he adds NC hardware to his case in the next few years, and once or twice more in the years that follow.

you're suggesting he is going to win 3 chips, you do realize how difficult+ unlikely that is? I think a lot of uneasiness stems from the fact a lot of people were clamoring for miller pre ollie, and now miller is still out here getting better recruiting classes (at least by the rankings/media hype).

He's saying that he thinks it's likely that Miller wins a title soon and then adds another one or two down the road - that's not an unreasonable prediction.

It's hard, but if you're looking forward and predicting which young coaches are poised to do such a thing, if you get past the top one or two without getting to Miller, you're doing it wrong.

Jim Calhoun reached his first Final Four and won his first national championship at age 56. Sean Miller is likely to beat that handily.

I personally won't mind seeing KO and Miller making the next 20 years a UConn-Arizona battle and watching Calipari/Kentucky, Pitino/Louisville, Krzyzewski/Duke, Boeheim/Syracuse, Williams/UNC fade into obscurity as the older coaching generation retires.

First off, I am not saying he can't win, I am saying that when he gets to the tournament, in my opinion, he doesn't do a good job. He's been at Zona for 6 years and missed the tournament 33% of the time.

He's a great recruiter because he coaches at Zona. Who wouldn't want to go there instead of CT?

he's had 7 players drafted and 4 of those lottery picks. That's talent by any stretch of the word. We've had 8 players drafted since that time with 4 lottery picks. Half of those 8 won at least 1 championship. Talent has been there for both teams and it seems as though we do more with said talent.

He might prove me wrong and that is fine. I would rather see him win than letting Cal or K have any more. Can't stand those 2!!!

That's true of the Pastner can't win idea as well...

We'll see. Watching coaches do circles around Pastner makes me question whether he will get the "big one."

Pastner can win no doubt in my mind. But I don't think he's put together the right group of guys yet.

Arizona was good last year, but that injury really killed them. If Ashley didn't go down, they would have handled Kaminski and Wisconsin better. I think they were better than UK too and would have faced us in the championship game.

Zona ,33 wins, lost by one point to 30 win Wisconsin, who was a long three point shot by Harrison away from going to the final 4. Zona losing to Wisconsin was not surprising. Wisc. will be a favorite to go to the final 4 this year. One play here or there is the difference between winning and losing. Miller is an excellent coach.

Quite frankly, what some people are saying about Miller some use to say about Calhoun. Can't win the big game, etc - it's nonsense!

I don't like the way he runs his offense, but he's a very good defensive coach and he's got plenty of time to get over the hump.
