AP Top 25 Week 9 UConn still #1, more votes

As anticipated, a lot of movement. LSU down 7 and Notre Dame out.

Because of my OCD, I enjoyed looking at the individual voters for week 9 before the actual poll was released. Quite a few differences amongst each voter.

Apologies for the duplicate, but I find the AP site annoying to scroll through because of the ads

if those were the final committee rankings, might see this bracket:

1 UConn - 7 Van -- 9 Mich -- 16 Bay
2 Texas - 8 Md --- 10 Lou -- 15 MichSt

4 UCLA -- 5 Okla - 12 LSU -- 13 TCU

top 16
6 SEC
5 B1G

3 B12
2 BgE/ACC

-------------
top 25

9 B1G

4 B12
4 ACC/BgE/Ivy

Me: Duke only got three votes, bunch of numbskull voters

Also Me: Love Duke being unranked, we play better being the hunter as opposed to the huntee (not even sure if that's a real word)
Congrats on a nice win yesterday, one of the best wins of the year nationwide.
Reminds me of probability: Is the event independent of other events or are all the events dependent on each other. Ex. coin flip- after 100 consecutive heads, what is the probability that the next toss will be heads? Answer- still 50% (often tricks kids)
Sorry, the poll is a ranking based on performance in all contests. No forgiveness for all of those dismal early losses. But as bad as WCBB is outside the top 25, Duke should inch its way to respectability soon enough.

So every writer agrees that UConn and Texas are either #1 or #2. The writers diverge on #3&4. That is curious to me. I would have thought the gap between #2 and #3 would have gotten closer. I get that UCLA trounced USC, but perhaps USC is not so good? What does really surprise me is the gap between 7 & 8 which is the 84 points that @Vowelguy noted. I mean, yes it was a nice win for Vanderbilt AT HOME but this is the only Top 44 team that Vanderbilt has faced. They may be real or they may not be but why such a big disparity? Vanderbilts next challenge will be Michigan on Jan 19 in Newark. To me, Louisville is still being punished for losses to UConn, SC and Kentucky. While their wins (multiple) aren't as good as the ONE win that Vanderbilt had last night, they have been competitive in losses and dominant in wins. I am also surprised that Michigan State has jumped up so much. Yes, they had ONE good win vs. Ole Miss but did that warrant a 9 spot move up?

Sorry to disagree with @triaddukefan but for ZERO writers to vote Duke for ANY spots given how well they are now playing is just idiotic.

Looks like NCSt (who had 0 votes the prior pole) picked up many of Duke's prior votes.

Most folks say "the hunted" as in "the hunter and the hunted". 'Huntee' sounds like an article of clothing, or a military vehicle 😆.

I'm wondering also when Duke gets an opportunity to get back in the top 25. Their schedule is pretty light this month except for maybe Stanford. They don't have a chance at Lville till February.

5th to 12th for LSU. I think that's reasonable. If the margins in those two losses were great it could have been a slaughter.

IMO there is a very big gap between the Top 4 teams and the rest of the country.
This is a point I've been making for some time and became even more true with LSU sliding down making the gap between #4 and #5 even more pronounced

Amazingly, after dropping 2 games, LSU remains 5th in the NET rankings. Hard to figure that one out! Must be the MOV against all the cupcakes...
Not only that, they only dropped to 6th in Massey ratings, which I think are much more solid than NET rankings

They should be back in the top 25 now, but solid victories against Cal Stanford and Virginia should do it
