AP Top 25 Week 13 No changes in top 4

Vandy drops 2 spots, Princeton and Tennessee 4.

@BRS24 you're on the clock 🤣
LOL. Ack-shu-ally, ESPN is on the clock. I'm just a girl, in front of my laptop screen, waiting for all the data to cascade ....

Then-#24 Alabama beat then-#23 Georgia, followed by a 40 pt loss to LSU ... and moved up to #21

.... which goes to show how much trouble voters must be having in finding teams to rank

Tennessee dropped too far, Princeton not enough
They got soundly beaten at home by a mediocre MissSt, and then the UConn loss. A drop of 4 seems entirely appropriate IMO.
They were jumped by Ole Miss (beat Vandy),, Kentucky, Duke (continues to win), and Texas Tech (beat TCU).

I understand why AP voters make the moves they do, but as I've watched the AP this year compared to Massey it is becoming increasingly clear AP voters have their own internal set of rules, which bear only a passing resemblance to actual strength.

I don't disagree with Duke being ahead of Tennessee. I was beating the Duke from back when Charlie creme declared they didn't deserve an invitation to the tournament. Nonsense.

Texas Tennessee versus Mississippi is a coin flip, but they are way better than Kentucky or Texas Tech.

[that's weird, I have no idea why I had Texas.]

By what metric (other than AP) is Texas Tech better than Tennessee?

I see Gael just posted SRCBB stats. I don't know a lot about them, but you have to go to the website to see that Texas Tech is # 28, nine spots below Tennessee.
In the NET, Texas Tech is number 29, 10 spots below Tennessee.

Her Hoops stats has them at 34 compared to Tennessee at 20.

Torvik has them at 28 versus Tennessee at 14.

I haven't done an exhaustive search but I'm not following the rationale for ratingTexas Tech ahead of Tennessee.

Are you saying that the AP Poll is the only place where Texas Tech is ranked above Tennessee? That's easily explained...the AP Poll is decided totally by humans and they have their favorite teams that they vote for. They don't have to justify their voting criteria.

Based on what?

TN beat Ky at home by 2 points
they both lost to MissSt by double digits
Kentucky beat Louisville & TN lost while they did reverse vs Alabama
KY beat Oklahoma & LSU, both of which are higher quality wins than anything TN has

Charlie Creme has Tennessee hosting and Kentucky not hosting. This is not a mic drop comment, I'm not about to assume that Creme always gets it right, but it is one data point in support of Tennessee being better than Kentucky. ADVANTAGE Tennessee

You already mentioned that Tennessee beat Kentucky but yes it was close so it's not worth much. (small) ADVANTAGE Tennessee

The NET has Kentucky ahead of Tennessee, but the NET has Michigan State and Minnesota in the top 10, so I'm struggling to take them too seriously. (small) ADVANTAGE Kentucky

Kentucky has 3 quad 1 wins while Tennessee has 4. ADVANTAGE Tennessee

SRCBB net rating has Kentucky ahead of Tennessee ADVANTAGE Kentucky

Warren Nolan ELO rating has Tennessee at 18, and Kentucky at 30 ADVANTAGE Tennessee

Anyone can cherry pick the stats that best support the case they want to make, but you asked why I said Tennessee is way better than Kentucky. My full statement was Tennessee is way better than Kentucky or Texas Tech and upon reflection I should've saved the "way better" for comparison to Texas Tech and simply said "better" when referring to Kentucky.

Actual games results and multiple common opponents are hardly "cherry picking" stats.

This is very funny for even a non-Notting Hill fan if there are any...........

It sounds as if you like common opponents.

Georgia played both Tennessee and Kentucky.

Georgia beat Kentucky.
Tennessee beat Georgia. ADVANTAGE Tennessee

I'm most interested in the final score of the upcoming Tennessee at SCar game.
Even though UConn was without Blanca, the MOV could still serve as an indication of the relative strength of SCar's offensive capability.
UConn beat Tennessee by 30, 66 - 96.

Worth noting, South Carolina has been without Ta'Niya Latson and Agot Makeer, plus Tessa Johnson just got injured in their most recent game. They're not at full strength relative to where they were a couple of weeks ago.

I may have dismissed Minnesota too quickly. Granted Iowa is without McCabe, but Minnesota's win over Iowa was solid. Not as close as the final score suggested.

“She’s just banged up,” Staley said of Johnson. “We afforded ourselves to get a big lead and not (having to) put her in a situation where she could hurt herself more. She’s just a little sore so we opted to keep her out and get her ready for the Tennessee game.”
I'm not disagreeing with your statement I agree that without Latson and Makeer, they are not at full strength but I didn't know about the Johnson situation so I looked it up.

I'm not quite sure what's gonna happen with Tennessee and South Carolina. I watched Tennessee Georgia last night and was quite unimpressed with either team. Tennessee laid an egg against Mississippi State. The best playing in the last three games was the first half against UConn so maybe they manage to get up for big teams, and mail it in for lesser talent or maybe stuff just happens

They've been a dark horse in the BIG10 to me from the start of the season because they were getting players like Braun back from season ending injuries. They're still finding their way and unfortunately had some bad luck in losing close games this season (e.g. Maryland) that would make their resume more impressive. Coach Plitzuwheit has done a good job rebuilding the program.
