New Year’s Eve games are cursed for this program. Tough loss @ Xavier, but a good win vs Nova shouldn’t harm us too much

Top 10 teams with losses this week:
#2 UConn v #22 Xavier

Here are some public AP ballots for week 9: (Last week's rank in parentheses).
Jon Rothstein: 3 (2)
Jerry Carino: 2 (2)
Clayton Collier: 2 (1)
Mark Berman: 2 (2)
Dave Borges: 2 (1)
Chris Murray: 2 (2)
Todd Golden: 5 (2)
Dave Preston: 6 (2)
Rick Bozich: 5 (2)

Non-AP Analytic Sites:
Kenpom: 2 (2)
Barttorvik: 4 (2)

Prediction: UConn #5. Would be pleasantly surprised if we only drop to #4 though

Copying my earlier prediction in another thread but

My guess is 5, lost to a ranked team on the road and still 14-1. Even if every voter drops us 4 spots, by my rough math we'd be around 70 points ahead of Texas for the 5 spot. Obviously some teams may also move up, but we had a pretty big cushion above others at the #2 spot

I'm going to go with #4. If this team gets back to its identity of playing great D, rebounding and getting some points in transition they will end as a 1seed.

Some voters aren’t even dropping us which is nice to see. But yeah theres gonna be a few that probably drop us in the 6-8 range which drags us down

I'm very interested to see where Providence and Creighton slot in; would expect to see Providence around 28 and Creighton with a few receiving votes. Will be a very big week for us. At this rate Providence is Quad 1 and Creighton is just outside Quad 1 for us

Xavier only moved up to 18… not many losses in top 25 but at 12-3 that’s about right. I think top 15 may have been a stretch but when you beat #2 you should move up quite a bit. Thought it would be more.

Still good for Big East.

Marquette & Providence are receiving votes, respectfully. Need to beat Friars.

X getting no respect. Only losses to Zags, Indiana, and Duke. Should be in top 15. Their starting 5 is tough.

That could have been worse. We're getting respect for our hot start, but if we lose at Providence, the bottom may fall out.
I agree. I hope this loss doesn't stick in the teams head. They need to shake it off quick.

To me, this is confirmation, that many voters privately felt the FT discrepancy against X, was a factor and did not penalize our team too much. I know many will scoff at this, but I think people in sport privately will admit that officiating can be strongly biased at times. I feel the ranking is spot on. A deserved 4 or 5 after this loss.

it's ok, youse can now admit it that it's official, and ur minds r now, blown.
FAU, jmoneys team, now gets votes in this one, 3, more than Creighton.
of course the coaches, way smarter than keyboard pounding reporter clowns, who don't know the difference between a jump shot and a jump ball, have been giving them props for a few of their polls.

yessiree, jmoney. but youse knew this, amiright?
record win streak, record record, everything so far, including poll votes,
unprecedented. period. coolaroni.
remarkable. and youse thought i wouldn't have anything to say aboot him this season.
wrongo, buttbreaths. suck an egg.
he's building a hero brand at Boca, where they don't need no stinkin nil, they just pass out new rides and sacks o'cash to everyone.
beach is next to the gym. smart, very smart.
coach prolly said to him when recruiting, 'turn this mess around.' rolls him out there, not to get stats, but to get the squad singing in perfect harmony.
will it last? idk. im just enjoying the ride.
this one has ladies heads on fire.

and before the crankies weigh in on his school,
The university was named one of the "Best Southeastern Colleges" in the United States by the Princeton Review for 2023. wiki. they'll be joining the AAC next season. i luv it when a plan comes together.
