Michigan passes us for #2. We're now #3.

Did someone forget to submit their ballot? Only 59 #1 votes for Arizona and 60 the prior week. There were 61 votes 2 weeks ago.

17 wins straight without a loss and coming off an away blowout of Creighton. The last bunch of close wins in a disrespected apparently bad conference did the trick. I’ve always placed less importance to these rankings which moves up and drops teams at times significantly with a loss even a close one.
More important than these numbers is to just keep improving team rebounding and team offense, and that seems to be happening.

Not sure we should take this one personal. UM went on the road and dominated a top 10 team, then beat another top ten team. They only have one loss and were formerly #1. Not surprising. Good to see voters actually used their brains. Creighton doesn't carry much weight. 2 top 10 wins versus a PC & Creighton when you have the same amount of losses should swing some votes TBH. Did't expect it, but am not holding it against the voters. Maybe if we go out and run over STJ it will swing back.

@RuffRuff with a lot of influence over the voters apparently?

On a sidenote, I had Michigan/MSU on in the background while doing some things around the house, saw MSU with the lead at halftime and thought “Michigan can’t be THAT good for it to be this close”. Then I realized I had the women’s game on…

This was bound to happen. They have a better resume and better metrics. We jumped them after their loss due to recency bias but that fades and they’ve had a couple big wins recently that we just can’t get in the BE. This all means zero at the end of the day.
Better resume is debatable. Definitely better metrics though.

Michigan beat #5 at the time Nebraska last Tuesday and then at #7 in-state rival Michigan State on Friday.

In the same week we beat 9-13 cross-border pain-in-the-ass, PC at home by 6, followed by our 27 pt beat-down at 12-10 Creighton, both unranked.

And if any of the voters watched UConn and Michigan games the past few weeks, can anyone blame the voters?

Don't get me wrong. I love our team and believe we have a chance to be among the best programs by tournament time. But based on what I've seen, and as we begin February, Michigan looks the more formidable team at this time.

As long as we keep on winning, and hopefully continue to play like we did on Saturday, we'll be just fine and would slip past Michigan and Zona in the polls when either of them slips up, if that's really that important to some.

It's always fun to see our team at the top during the season, but sitting atop the list at the beginning of April is what really counts.

It’s not a knock on UConn. They are 8-0 vs our 5-1 in quad 1 wins and have blown out teams far more than we have. I still think we’ve seen their peak but haven’t yet really seen UConn’s but they have a better resume. A lot of that is just based on the conference we play in but still.

I didn’t take it as a knock. I just think the teams we beat are really good and could be debated as better.

Their metrics are way better
