AP Poll December 9 - UConn still #2 | The Boneyard

AP Poll December 9 - UConn still #2

Why shouldn’t we be 2? It’s not like we’ve beaten the former 1? There’s still work to do to earn that, plus we don’t really need to worry about it until April.
That woman on On3 has us at #3 because we haven’t had enough “good wins.”

Nice to see that Tennessee is back in the Top 25. One, because after watching them against Iowa, they deserve to be. Second, now when we play them later in the season, we can notch another ranked win onto the resumé.
That might be a tad wishful thinking. Tennessee plays Oklahoma on 1/5, LSU on 1/9, MSU on 1/16, Vandy on 1/19, Texas on 1/23 and SCar on 1/27 before we play them on 2/6 so they may have quite a few losses on their docket.

TIME is the great solution to any questionable problem.. TIME.. Wait enough time and all will be revealed as to who is NO 1. I have plenty of time to wait for the answer. I will just enjoy every game and bide my time. I already know the answer , so I can relax while I read all the posters concerns. GO FRESHMEN!!!! GO SOPHOMORES!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!

.-.
And Still number 2 on the NET, where it (supposedly) matters.
I highly doubt specific NET rankings matter. I believe it's a sorting mechanism, used to generate things like the Quads; it's the records against those quads that matter more than whether you are 1, 2, or 3.

If this week's poll were the committee rankings

SPOK1: 1 UCLA - 8 NDm - 10 Okla - 16 Ky
BIRM2: 2 Conn - 6 Tex - 11 OhSt - 15 WV
BIRM3: 3 SCar - 7 Md. - .9 Duke - 13 KSt
SPOK4: 4 LSU. - 5 USC - 12 TCU. - 14 UNC

8 BiG (out of 18)
7 SEC (16)
5 ACC (18)
4 B12 (16)
1 BgE (11)

No. 2 UConn at No. 8 Notre Dame, Thursday. The two former Big East rivals tip off in one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. Both teams have All-American stars in UConn’s Paige Bueckers and Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo. The Huskies are at full strength while the Irish are still working through some injuries.

What ever happened to journalism. They used to have some integrity. The poll wasn't published until today so he can't say he didn't know about Fudd, to say nothing of Griffin and Ducharme.

Typical! Clearly either laziness or bias!

And Patterson...
What's really, really eerie is these player's numbers are:
33, 34, 35 and 44...the last 4 players listed on the Roster (sorted numerically).

I don't hate Tennessee (much) anymore, but all that orange does make me nauseous.

Yes, along with Patterson you still have three out and one in question (Fudd). ESPN ran this AP story on their website as is, and my eyes could not have rolled further to the back of my head upon reading it this morning.

Feunberg is a long time excellent reporter of wcbb.

Patterson had little impact in her 1 year of playing so it’s a big stretch to record her absence as impactful.
Ducharme, unfortunately, is probably done.
Griffin is a notable player but UConn has more than enough bodies without her. It’s not like ND which is basically going 6, and is without key player in westbeld.

Could’ve been worded better but hardly a huge slight.

doesn't matter. he wrote that uconn is at FULL strength, and ap editors -- if there are any -- let it go.

it is not so, false and pathetic journalism (which is too common these days).

His story was dated Monday and Fudd was injured on Saturday. It was sloppy journalism at best. He seemed to be finding an excuse for NDame only. He could have just mentioned the Irish missing and left it but he specifically said "full strength" for UConn.

Media these days often seems to be openly used as simply an avenue for these so-called journalists to present, not the news as it really is, but rather as they wish it to be! It is truly a dangerous and threatening reality for all people who value truth and freedom!

Obviously, this is pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things but still, a troubling confirmation of the media’s incompetence, indifference, and/or outright bias! There are still good, honest, and conscientious journalists out there though! You just have to work harder at finding them!

Doug Feinberg has been covering women’s hoops for decades and usually covers UConn. He made a mistake. I hope wherever you guys work, your bosses aren’t as brutal after such a small error

Wait, we're his boss? Cool.
