7 is what I thought.

Of the teams we have beaten, Louisville and Iowa State have disappeared. Only UNC and Ole Miss are still ranked.

There are 6 unbeatens left. Some of them look legit, but some look like pretenders. Maryland and Ga. Tech will have 5+ conference losses.

.-.
We swapped with USC, seems right.
I don't understand why the Golden Domers received one 1st place vote. I guess it proves my opinion that some AP voters play favorites.

UConn looks a lot like they did last year, two great players and a bunch of role players. They really need a couple girls to step up and offer consistency on both ends of the floor. They give the opponents way too many open threes and right now they have one rebounder and that won't work against the top teams.

ND beat them with good guard play, USC beat them with good play inside and wide open looks from 3 they made. The defense needs to relax on the help side and be in position to defend. Most good shooters will hit open shots, but not hit shots with defense on them. That is an easy adjustment that I haven't seen over the past couple years.

To me they have two players who really play and they are Paige and Sarah. All the others are about the same and they need a couple to step up. I would put Azzi in that group when she plays a couple games in a row but others simply haven't elevated their games yet. With that said I would move Jana in the starting line up for her size if nothing else and would like to see another player with length with her. If that person is Morgan then so be it but she needs to rebound the basketball if she is going to be a player they rely on for big minutes.

Totally agree with above. Two players who really play and a bunch of role players. That is the deal.
Without post presence you are cooked. When you have two rebounds and like four points coming out of the post your guards are working overtime and your wing is going to be taxed beyond reasonable expectations.

That is why our team did not have assists and was not working the half court well.
Not a recipe for success.
Add in absence of athleticism and elite playing in Chen and it is a problem
Aubrey would help a bunch. KK's athleticism helpful but shooting an issue for her.
That we came within two testimony mostly to Paige and Sarah

Yeah, that Ashlynn kid really, really didn't contribute against Iowa State.
We lost by 2 points to USC because multiple players stepped up at the right time. We outplayed them by 11 points in the second half because multiple players stepped up. We just fell short in the Final 5 seconds. If Sarah had made her final 2 FTs or her game ending 3 PT shot, what would be the complaints??? I'm sure some fans would still find something(s).
Oh, in my opinion, last year we had at least 3 great players, Paige, Aaliyah and Nika and some pretty da*n good other players...

It is very ironic that so many BYers were raving about how UConn would beat USC by a dozen or so points. The braggadoccio was deafening. All this stuff about the infinitely deep bench was nothing but hot air. Lots of Yarders are simply acting emotionally and listening to each other's blather. They are as a team pretty mediocre when the game is on the line shooting-wise. As a whole team, they are not a great shooting team, not even close to great.

I don't recognize any of the voters names. Do you know a way to tell who voted for which team?

some? Or just one?
I have always said that the poll seems like a popularity contest to some voters. This week plainly shows one of them.

It’s tedious but at the top of the poll, you select the All Voters list and then select each voter and you can see who they voted for.

Where was this voter's favoritism in the preseason poll, then? Notre Dame was ranked 6th then, with no first-place votes.

It's remarkable how beating 3 of the top 7 teams in the poll, two of them decisively, is looked upon with favor by some people.

UConn will be climbing in the ratings over the next 8 weeks, running the table.
We run the table in the Big East, split with Tenn and SC, win the BE tournament, go in as a #3 seed and lose in the FF...

IF this were the committee ranks (and to be clear they dont use the AP poll) ...

SPOK 1: UCLA / CT_ / OKL / KY
BIRM 2: SCAR / MD_ / TCU / DUKE
BIRM 3: NDME / LSU / OSU / TENN
SPOK 4: USC_ / TEX / KST / GAT

Probably because they thrashed two top ten teams (U$C and UConn) and in my mind, have looked more like a championship team so far than any other. I don't know what it is about them, but they have a verve that's undeniable.

Rankings notwithstanding, I think UConn is destined to be a final four team, and everything after that is matchups, luck, and who shows up / avoids injury.

It doesn't work for me. What browser should I use?
Even though the Released Date is last week, I used this week's vote to access the voters and it appears to be Cassandra Negley.
(I am using an Edge browser on an Android phone.)

She doesn't seem to be linked to ND, "Central New York native and SUNY Brockport alumna who returned to her home region after stints in Phoenix, Charlotte and southern Georgia."
Thanks I will try that combination and see if I can make it work.

and when UConn goes back to number two or three in a few weeks as they feast on Big East softies while some of those ahead of them lose in tough conference play is it going to mean anything?

It's a long season, and a long time until March. Geno will have us ready and these two losses to a couple of very good teams will be a great learning experience. I have no doubts and you shouldn't either.

Like the rest of the Yard family, I am good with the 7 spot. I also got an eye on the "Evil Empire" over there rising quicker than a stack of pancakes at the House of Waffles!! Like I said before, the Lady Vols are going to be in the Top 10 before the end December or the 1st week of January 2025.
