I think the ax fell today on the ACC's chances of keeping FSU and Clemson. I also think the Big 12 will go to 14, and Pitt and Vtech will be the next 2, with an outside shot at Louisville.

if vt goes to the b12, then who is it that the sec has its eyes on for 16? i always thought vt was #1 on the list for the sec. could the sec be looking for a 2nd texas team? or are the wheels turning already and in order to get into north cary, both unc and ncst are a package deal? somethings up if vt is showing interest in the b12(which has been reported) and actually goes...

Why Pitt? Proximity to WV? Easy pickings? After FSU, Clemson and VT, there is a big dropoff. Louisville IMO is more attractive than Pitt.

I think B12 passes on Louisville. But who knows. I think they'll take FSU, Miami, Clemson, and either VT or GT right now. The 16 team conferences will be coming though so they might take both. I think that UVA, UNC, and Duke will be looking north to the B!G and VT and NC State will be looking towards the SEC. ND is probably deciding between B!G and B12 at this point. That's a toss up but the B!G makes more sense to me due to tradition and regional rivalries. ND would be influential in deciding what further additions should be made to either conference if they decided to join one. With Penn St., UVA, UNC, Duke, and ND the B!G would have a pretty robust east coast presence and excellent academics.

Then swap Louisville for Pitt. Either way, it looks like FSU and Clemson will be playing their last season in the ACC this fall.

Why?

We're simply never going to the Big 1G, but if you ever wanted to see John Swofford walk into the Atlantic Ocean and never come back, let the Big 1G invite UConn and Rutgers. Following right behind Swofford would be the entire campuses of Syracuse and Pittsburgh.

Get with it man, because nelson says so. That should be reason enough for anyone.

I don't necessarily disagree with him, but I like to see hows and whys occasionally.

And I would like to see a unicorn. Asking for hows and whys on an internet message board usually brings out either strained logic or the "friend who knows a guy" argument.

I'd prefer that UConn join the NFC East they get great TV money... it's about as likely as the Big 10, so why not go all in.

But the guy I know at work, who's friends with a guy who knows an insider at ND still says it could happen. For real.

Please everyone knows Baylor and West Virginia are the nexus of real information.

It's very possible we go to the Big 10 w Rutgers. Michigan, Ohio State, etc would love to play in the NYC area annually. So would Notre Dame.

Conspiracy Kitty finds your lack of belief ...disturbing.

Gotta figure the Big12 is going to add 4 teams to match the SEC at 14.

Say Big12 adds: FSU, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Louisville.

ACC needs 3 to get back to 14: UConn, Rutgers, USF/Cincy (I'll say USF to replace FSU).

ACC North: Boston College, UConn, Rutgers, Syracuse, Pitt, Maryland, Virginia Tech
ACC South: Virginia, UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake, Miami, USF

God almighty, I'd be one happy .

Side note: I'd feel awful for Cincy though considering they've been just about the best football along with WVU in the NBE and their hoops program is top notch as well.

Well, the guy on the Illinois Scout board who was right about Mizzou to the SEC and Texas staying in the Big 12 posted link to some interesting information in the Northern Indiana Small Business Journal about a large shipment of Big 12 lapel pins being shipped to a distributor in Hammond, Indiana. This distributor has done business with other businesses that are also in Northern Indiana.

Also, someone who retweeted Pete Thamel's tweet one time, tweeted that Swofford was spotted in a Dunkin Donuts outside of Hartford only 8 hours ago.

Dude, connect the dots.

GaTech is way too snobby to join the Big12. They'll ride their academic rocket to football irrelevancy before they move into a neighborhood with Texas Tech.

everything else sounded legit.
