Soccer America is not the only one. I am not against Klinsmann and he has done some great things for US Soccer; but, he does carry some of the blame and, to date, does not seem to be willing to accept such.

I just watched the game. Brazil is just better than us. Full stop. Plus it was a friendly with a wacky substitution pattern.

The U.S. Soccer media in general are has this idea in mind that the U.S. is a top 10 soccer nation, because once upon a time a Bruce Arena hoovered up a high ranking racking up a bunch friendly wins over CONCACAF minnows.

We're just not that good. Our best player is Michael Bradley, who was the 4th guy in a 3 man midfield at Roma. Geoff Cameron is a mediocre defender on a decidedly mediocre EPL team. Yedlin got loaned to Sunderland. Do I need to go on? Jozy, is awful, couldn't even crack the lineup at an awful Sunderland.

We're not a good team. Not even Top 15, maybe not even top 30...

We're not good, but we're better than this. Klinsmann's biggest problem is that he's a terrible judge of talent, which is why you keep watching Ventura Alvarado and Michael Orozco getting torched at CB. And then by playing two CBs at the fullback spots, you have no one to overlap. Bradley as an attacking mid still doesn't work. Basically, Klinsmann likes the guys who kiss his boots, and anyone who notices that he doesn't know what he's doing gets sent packing.

Yes, he got out of the Group of Death, but because it didn't end up being much of a Group of Death. Portugal completely imploded against Germany in the first match, and without that, the US goes out on goal differential. Ghana fell apart because of corruption inside their FA (a corrupt African FA? Who'd have thunk it?), and all the players got pissed when they weren't getting paychecks.

Then he goes into a match where he's going to have no possession and doesn't bring a counterattacker or anyone who can take set pieces. We went over this last summer, but leaving Donovan home was ridiculous, and it cost them that match.

Bradley has had plenty of great games as the attacking midfielder. Plenty enough to blow your point to smithereens.

Sent players packing? Like who exactly? Cameron is back, Besler is back.

Plenty of teams have used CBs as fullbacks. JK wants to use Fabian Johnson and Deandre Yedlin in more advanced roles and we're not deep on talented fullbacks which is why you guys like Brad Evans get called in.

Waaaaaaah. And Bradley got through the Group of Crap with Landycakes and Dempsey in their primes by the skin of his nuts. Try again.

Yes, because having a fat, out of form Landycakes would have made all the difference in the world. He didn't even start playing well last year until after he announced he was retiring and all of the pressure was off of him. Landycakes was never exactly the picture of mental resilience. A routine quitter when the going was tough; Landon wasn't what was needed down there, unless you wanted someone who was willing to be interviewed by ESPN as much as possible.

This is exactly what it felt like on the eve of the Costa Rica game in Denver. Philipp Lahm's book revealed that Klinsmann's coaching methods have not changed since his tenures coaching Germany and Bayern Munich. He preaches fitness and athleticism over tactics and strategies ... because his tactical knowledge is considerably lacking. For all of his strengths (recruiting, motivating) he has major weaknesses (talent evaluation, petty & vengeful). I think he is slowly losing this team, and losing to Mexico October 10th will not get him fired.

I can't suggest a replacement ... but is it possible for Klinsmann to add an assistant to provide tactical instruction? Bedoya at DMF??? Does Klinsmann even believe this stuff himself???

Zoo - it's going to end badly with JK.

While much of what he believes about American soccer is true at the end of the day he's not going to improve it because the only thing he seems to actually excel at is alienating people.

But whatever - the JK apologists are going to defend him to the death even though 99% of what he accomplished was Tim Howard having a career month.
