What does pain but no injury mean? Is it psychosomatic?

It means he has a sore leg. Nothing that will keep him out of the game on Saturday. If he was needed last Friday he could have played, but given conditions and the way they were playing the game (run left run right run middle punt) it was decided not to use him. No sense risking that the soreness will get worse or develop into an injury just to please palatine. In the strictest sense, I suppose it isn't totally accurate to say he was not injured. But it was minor, a small muscle strain, slight ankle turn or a leg bruise, something along those lines, not something that would keep him out of action if he was needed nor that will keep him out of action this week if the coaches decide to use him. How's that?

Really?

Well, I'll just say that the simple statement that a player has some pain, but no injury, makes a lot of sense to a lot of people, that have been around football, and other things, where there is a certain amount of mental toughness that needs to be expressed through physical action.

Boyle was on the sideline in full uniform on Friday night, and was throwing the ball around. Whatever ESPN was reporting, they need to check their source.

The most common cause of tendinitis is overuse. Commonly, individuals begin an exercise program, or increase their level of exercise, and begin to experience symptoms of tendinitis. The tendon is unaccustomed to the new level of demand, and this overuse will cause an inflammation and tendinitis.

To put it another way, tendinitis is caused by damage to tissue, which is an injury.

I guess this is important, though I don't know why. He said Boyle could have played. But if all you are going to do is hand the football off, why would you bother using Boyle in the first place, and why bother aggravating a minor injury unnecessarily? When Diaco says it wasn't "an injury" he means it wasn't one that limited his ability to play had he been needed. It was like bumping your shin. Yeah, its an injury technically, but it isn't severe to any extent and you probably wouldn't call it such.

Maybe he has hurt feelings?

There is no such thing as pain without injury except for...maybe... pain in the as*. Even psychosomatic pain requires a neurological "insult."

Calling tendinitis an injury is like calling PMS an injury.

Ergo, Palatine is PMSing.

Tendinitis usually occurs from overuse that damages tissue. What don't you understand?
