Anyone deep frying their turkey?

A true public service.

... and if you're looking for something to accompany your food prep, here's a 5-minute excerpt on a similar theme. The entire 50-minute reading is available on YouTube as well. The guy sure could write...

He was wife beater and a stalker too. Total creep.

I stopped deep frying the turkey - the turkey costs $10 the oil costs $40, I always say I will reuse the oil for something else but never do.

How much oil do you need, and where can you buy so much peanut oil, for example?

Any self-respecting store sells Lou Anna Peanut oil in 5 gallon containers.

Where the hell do you get a $10 turkey?

My smoked turkey came out great - everyone loved it. On any other day it would be the turkey of choice. Everyone said they preferred the traditional turkey for today. By the way, I only use fresh turkeys and brine the snot out of them. The baked turkey was super moist and flavorful. Preparation (ie. brining) is key.

Going forward, smoked turkeys will be for days other than Thanksgiving and traditional turkeys will be the standard for Thanksgiving.

Shut up August.

Brined a 15 pounder overnight, spatchcocked and coated lightly with Kerrigold butter, and threw it on the Traeger for 90 minutes at 350. Won't do it any differently next year.
