Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?

He’s in the MAC - he’s in a league that is absolutely inferior to those schools. He’s playing on Tuesdays for a quarter mil in rights fees per year…it’s a low-major league.

It would help the thread if the people who do not watch football take to the sidelines for a while.
The Sun Belt was earning less in 2016 and 2017 when he lost to Appalachian State. He's also lost 12 games as a favorite in the last 5 years.

Who's the one that does not watch football again?

It would help the thread if all the people who don't know squat about what DB is doing would take to the sidelines for a while in my opinion.
The name of the thread is literally called "Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?"

The whole point is to discuss names lmao

Case in point, we hosted Ball State and beat them by six (granted, a late TD made it that close). Toledo hosted Ball State and beat them by thirty (actually twenty nine), so the only possible conclusions are:

Candle demonstrated superior coaching ability to Mora by dominating a common opponent Mora was not able to dominate while Candles team had equal or lesser talent, or, Candle was able to beat Ball St far more easilt due to his being able to assemble superior talent. Either way, Candle is an upgrade.

That's my position and I'm sticking to it (unless of course this ends up not materializing, then we dodged a bullet).

I believe App St beat Michigan in the big house. So what?

And there it is. Outside of Dan Mullen who was probably a pipe dream I like Jason Candle more than any of the other names mentioned.

"Okay. So superjohn liked Candle the best out there. Except he liked Mullen more. Cool."

I continue to be amazed by the level of coaches people think will come to UConn when we don't even play in a freaking conference with a pathway to the freaking playoffs. This is one of the reasons we lost Mora!
If you can get a guy like candle to come here, you sign him up and say thank you very much.

Jason Candle is a very very good hire. He has a proven track record of winning, has the highest rated recruiting class in MAC history, put guys into the NFL, 8 bowl games, only 46.

Benedict crushed this.

All due respect I do not trust Joe Calzone as somebody who breaks this news. if it was a high school coach hiring then maybe. It may happen but it's not cause Joe zone is saying it

Candle kinda sucks despite having the most talented roster in the MAC for a decade. Also check that bowl record and the name of the teams his teams played in those games.

You're using the wrong metric. He's a proven winner as a head coach, a great recruiter in a football talent hotbed, and he keeps great G5 players with him rather than transferring. He's perfect for UConn.

I find this from "The Football Scoop" disconcerting: "While Baker looms large in the Tulane search, and that job is considered a more premium position within the industry per coaches than the head job at UConn, Candle is right there as well as current Green Wave offensive coordinator Will Hall, the former Southern Miss head coach, and current Southern Miss head coach Charles Huff, who's also a top candidate at Memphis."
