OT: Any Songs Involving The Night - Dreams, Sleeping, the Stars, etc.

I’d been thinking of this one but couldn’t remember the name. It’s about a woman whose love is off to sea. In her sleep he comes to her and it turns out it’s his ghost.

Tim Hart and Maddy Prior released two spectacular albums before founding Steeleye Span, this is from the second. There’s something to be said for an a capella song by two great singers.

Here’s another about a young woman being visited in her sleep by the ghost of an absent love. This one is from American traditional singer Connie Dover.

Another one I’m surprised hasn’t appeared yet. Sam Cooke died before I was aware of anything. I learned of him listening to the Animals (Bring it on Home to Me), and his singing took my breath away the first time I heard him, probably on WABC or WNBC. I still think he’s one of the best rock ‘n’ roll, R&B, gospel singers to ever live.
You may like this Beck and Cooke "digital collaboration."

Heard this while driving around in my car a little while ago. Oh yeah, that song. I do recall liking it, but honestly wouldn't have come up with it on my own without the reminder.

Beautiful stuff by Tom Waits:

And now the sun's coming up
I'm riding with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Stars beginning to fade......

Great stuff by Asleep at the Wheel:

I saw miles and miles of Texas
All the stars up in the sky....

I can’t find that I’ve posted this one (shame on me). Gods, I love Jimmy Cliff.

You and the Night and the Music,

Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones. 1975
