Khalif Wyatt of Temple, knocked out, but played damn good.

There are always teams and players that impress the heck out of you, and then you look at their stats/schedules and conclude that they're just having a great week. (FGCU lost to Maine and twice to Lipscomb.) Wyatt is rated like the #57 senior by Draft Express. The "eye test" from his two games this past week doesn't line up with that at all.

So, yeah, sure he's impressed me. Comer from FGCU has looked amazing, along with most of his teammates. Russ Smith is a hot or cold player and boy is he hot these days. Jeff Withey is a really solid player who's been real tough inside so far.

Players listed above. Plus I'm seeing a side of Adreian Payne I've never seen before...

Rashad Anderson against Alabama looked like a version of Chuck Person!

I agree, I just think that there are some players that turn it on (lucky or not) when the lights are on. Unknown underclassmen (e.g. Lamb and Bazz) have the great benefit in post season tourneys. I haven't seen a lot but these posts give me a chance to look at different players as I don't know who to watch.

I love that game. During our darkest period last year, I watched it on the CBS Vault. (I just watched our 2011 win over Arizona the other day when I was feeling down about not being in the Tourny.) We blew Bama out of the building. It was like if, after knocking out Michael Spinks in 90 seconds, Mike Tyson was permitted to keep pummeling him for another 40 minutes.

Oladipo came up huge last night. Other than that haven't been paying that much attention.

Khalif Wyatt of Temple, knocked out, but played damn good.

Wyatt's back to back 31 point games against Cincy & Indiana were awesome. He looked like a 6'4" Paul Pierce. Not overly athletic but knew how to abuse opponents with his smarts & savvy!

The Larkin kid at Miami has been playing some great PG. Surprised nobody has mentioned him. He looks like he can play at the next level even due to his smaller stature.

Didn't realize how Wyatt could just take over a game. That was impressive.

We're already familiar with Vander Blue, but was interesting to see Marq play exactly the same way they did in BE. Futz for 39 minutes, get it to Blue in the last minute = win.

Sherwood Brown could run for governor right now. Whatever "it" is, he has it. Haven't seen that much joy mixed with swagger on a court since Khalid.

Everyone is saying that Sherwood Brown for FGCU is the main guy...But Comer is passing so well that the entire team looks great. He is finding open guys in spots to score on like 80% of their possessions. He seems to have no interest in anything but finding open teammates. He also has tremendous court vision. He also brings great energy to the game.

He is extremely impressive. He seems like a fantastic teammate.

He played on the same HS team as Austin Rivers. Probably never touched the ball.

Agree 100% on Comer. Haven't seen a pure point with his kind of court vision and awareness in a long time. As someone else mentioned here, it's kind of Couseyesque. But with a touch of Magic's flamboyance and love of the spectacular thrown in.

Sherwood Brown though, appears to have a little Kemba in him. He relishes taking the team on his back and forcing the issue. He really enjoys playing the game well. I hate to admit it, but so does Vander Blue.

Franklin impressed me last night, too. At least until he joined his teammates in frustration alley the last 6 minutes or so of the game.

I thought Larkin did the best job of playing to his perceived high-value. Withey next, big impact on game and will be a competent future pro.

But I was more struck by guys that didn't deliver:
Nate Wolters - Couldn't get a shot off vs Michigan.
Otto Porter - He should not be considered for even a top-5 pick, didn't show up until it was too late vs FGCU
Zeller - Ugh, 6 TO's to match his 6 rebounds.
Oladipo's final shot makes up for everything, but he's far from a finished product offensively and his continued gambles defensively made Wyatt look even better (and he was great to start).
Anthony Bennett - UNLV, eh not a lot of moves, seemed heavy - couldn't get his own shot
Marcus Smart - I didn't see this game but 5/13 and 5 turnovers out of a guy I was expecting to see emerge as a tournament star instead out 1st day before most people got home from work.

He also looks like Dracula. Good player, but a bit out of control at times. Then again, that's their style--go out, have as much fun as possible, let the chips fall. Fun to watch.
Love those leapin' white guys, too.

The thing that stood out for me over the first two rounds(sorry, I don't go for the NCAA's insistence that the play-in games constitute Round One) was Marquette's team defense. They suffocated Butler in the second half.

He reminds me of a less insane Jason Williams. He has made a lot of those players look fantastic with his vision and savvy. Without him, they are a bunch of athletes.

This would describe Wyatt of Temple. Always rises to the occasion in the biggest games.........

Not so good in many others.

Ugh, I HATE that they call the Round of 64 games the "Second Round."

Yep, did you see the ESPN article that he watched a lot of old-school Pete Maravich videos? Not sure about Maravich's sanity level, but he is definitely the source code for Comer's style. Lineage Pistol Pete 1.0, White Chocolate (a mutation), Bazooka Brett 2.0

Hate to curse but do you remember Ernie D. of peecee?

I think Vander Blue's been the best player in the tourney so far. Pretty much saved his team in both games. Crazy how much he's improved in his time at Marquette. If he stays, I believe he could be a POY candidate next year.

Wyatt looks to be a smaller version of Caron Butler. He slows the game down rather than speeding it up and has a quick step and is strong with the ball when he makes up his mind. Gets his shot off quick and is very creative once he goes to the rim.........nice offensive player for sure!!
