I haven't found anything in the news and nothing was concluded during the game broadcast. I hope he's just shaken up.
I find it very interesting (and a positive sign) they let him back on the bench. He is in concussion protocol. I don’t know enough about the hurdles that have to be met to be cleared. It almost looked like he got knocked out when his head hit the floor. But then he got up and later returned to the bench. I think those are good signs but usually it takes at least a week to clear all the protocols but that is a guess.
He's unbelievably athletic and the lob game has really been clicking with him lately. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon to start the game yesterday. Hopefully he’s out just one game.

Yeah that sounds and reads like at least a week……Return-to-Sport Management --
Unrestricted return-to-sport should not occur prior to unrestricted return-to-learn for concussions diagnosed while the student-athlete is enrolled in classes. Complete rest and isolation should be avoided, even for initial 24-48 hours. Relative rest is important in the first 24 hours. Final determination of unrestricted return-to-sport will be made by a (School Name) team physician or their medically qualified designee following implementation of an individualized, supervised stepwise progression management plan that includes:
Step 1. Symptom-limited activities of daily living.
Step 2. Aerobic exercise with light resistance training as tolerated [no more than mild or brief (<1 hour) exacerbation of symptoms].
2a. Light (up to approximately 55% maximum heart rate); then
2b. Moderate (up to approximately 70% maximum heart rate).
Step 3. Individual sport-specific exercise and activity without any increased risk of inadvertent head impact exposure.
Proceed to step 4 only after resolution of signs and symptoms related to the current concussion, including with and after physical exertion.
Step 4. Non-contact practice with progressive resistance training.
Step 5. Unrestricted practice or training.
Step 6. Unrestricted return-to-sport.
It could be less than a week. You could go through steps 1-4 in a couple of days. But the normal progression is up to two weeks. This is just from my reading of the NCAA literature.Yeah that sounds and reads like at least a week……
Yeah, flashback to Polley for sure - I was at that end of the garden and man he went down hard. Stewart had to step over him and it took seemingly 2 minutes for the refs to realize what happened as we were 4 on 5 at the other end before whistles blew.Anyone else have flashbacks to Polley?
With everyone crushing him for standing at the 3 pt line his whole career, out of the blue he played out of his mind one game all over the floor and then promptly injured his knee I believe the following practice and was out for the year
Samson Johnson started playing out of his mind and then was layed out on the floor. I cringed
Did Alex return to the bench during the game? He also had to travel home separately. so while samsons looked worse, in my totally unprofessional and uninformed opinion maybe it wasn’tIn my totally unprofessional and uninformed opinion, his injury looked worse than Alex's. I'm going with two weeks
Last year we got some Johnson for Clingan, some Ball for Castle, but that was experience building. It’s funny because I feel like early injuries have actually helped this team as it’s given other players a chance to step up. Last year with Steph and Don, this year with AK. Builds resilience.
Karaban traveled home with the team. Also, he stayed in the game and shot his free throws after getting fouled and hitting his head.Did Alex return to the bench during the game? But AK never lost consciousness, while Johnson did. NCAA protocol is clear on unresponsiveness/unconsciousness.Karaban traveled home with the team. Also, he stayed in the game and shot his free throws after getting fouled and hitting his head.
The Huskies’ star forward and captain went down hard as he was fouled on a layup attempt with about two and a half minutes left in the 85-67 defeat. His head hit the court and he sat shaken up for a moment before stepping to the free throw line, where he made both of his shots. He didn’t exit the game until there were 36 seconds left.
Karaban was cleared just before the flight back to Connecticut late Wednesday night and was able to return with his team.
