Another streak ends (but it’s good!)

With Geno as head coach, the Huskies have never won a conference championship in a year ending in 3 (who keeps these stats anyway?). Until tonight.

1983 lost to BC
1993 lost to Providence
2003 lost to Villanova
2013 lost to ND

:)
Yes that's one of those that was not likely to be on Geno's bucket list. ;)

So ... another streak continuing ...
They mentioned that Uconn has now won 10 conference tournaments in a row - 7 AAC followed by 3 new Big East for 30 conference tournament game wins in a row. I decided to check the P6/P5 and nBE for the other longest streaks:

Uconn 10 years - AAC/nBE - 30 games (still current.)

Uconn 9 years ending in 2002 - oBE - 29 games (they lost in the final to Villanova in 2003 - I did not post this yesterday for obvious karmic reasons!)

TX 8 years straight - SWC - 24-26 games (Jody Conradt days) So presumably 24-26 games.

Stanford 7 - Pac12 - 21-23 games (The Pac10/PacWest appears not to have tournaments until 2002, so she didn't get a chance when she was winning) 21-23 games

Uconn 7 - AAC - 21 games

Baylor 6 - Big 12 - 18-20 games

Duke 5 - ACC - 15-17 games (ND and UNC both have had 4 year streaks and MD and NCState have had 3 yr.)

SC 4 - SEC - 12-14 games (TN and Pat only ever one 3 in a row.)

Purdue/OSU/Maryland 3 - Big 10 - 9-11 games

DePaul/Uconn 3 - nBE - 9 games (Uconn streak current, DePauls ended in their first game of the next tournament)

I am obviously assuming all the listed teams played three games each year, and I am not researching what happened in the following years tournament thus the two game range.
