Another one bites the dust (merged)

Wow Sedona Prince with 20&20, and 8 blocks. I didn’t see the game but it Looks like ND went right at her and lost! Queue the Size Matters comments for Nan

Koval fouled out and Hidalgo had four against her, while going to the stripe 10 times. Will try to find this one replay
Huh? ND beat SoCal, and SoCal had the All-American post player.

Kiki is listed at 6'3"....Prince is 6'7" and has a much different skill set.

And, Kiki went from being coached by Tara to Gottlieb.
I think Gottlieb has obviously shown her ability as a recruiter recently, but at least so far, early in this season, the whole has not been as good as the sum of the parts. That may change, but her coaching ability with a ton of talent is still an unanswered question IMO.

I'll watch the rerun of TCU-ND and get another game out of my FloSports boondoggle.

I feel like I've followed Hailey Van Lith's every move since she started at Louisville, but I don't know much about Sedona Prince. A glance at her stats shows she started college in 2017 and has had a rough go. I wish her well. It seems like her final (?) season of eligibility is off to a good start.

Speaking of both Men's and Women's ranked teams, I have never seen a season begin like this, with so many ranked teams losing.
It is surely going to be an interesting year!
IMHO, the preseason rankings are lazy, with predisposed opinions based on potential and nothing more. I actually like when there's healthy competition and surprises, as it shows the old "on any given day"

Prince is a force. A big UConn miss from 5 years ago.
Remember her well! Very disappointed she chose to go west over UConn. Seems like she has been around a long time. This is her third different college team. There should be a rule limiting how many transfers you are allowed otherwise they will be chasing NIL money for 4 years.

I’m not going into details but nope she wasn’t a miss. Def not a UConn player
Not to mention she was at Oregon five years ago and red-shirting at Texas the year before that.

Koval fouled out with 12 seconds remaining in the game. But she was "tentative" after picking up her 4th foul.
TCU is VERY "real". But, Notre Dame still has Maddy Westbeld sitting on the bench, 6'3", and Liza Karlen,
6'2" grad transfer from Marquette, waiting to return from injury. December 12th in South Bend will be
a BARN BURNER. NOTE: THE IRISH will play # 5 Texas later this next week

SEDONA PRINCE went to TEXAS first... Then a truly forgettable injury story...( shame on TEXAS )... on to Oregon, more injury.
She is making this season COUNT!

The Prince I saw dismantle ND is an obvious candidate for a lottery pick. She seems much quicker and self assertive this season, and that will play very well in the W. I was also stunned to see how good her handles have become.

7th year as a collegiate athlete counting time at Texas. She chose Oregon for reasons Geno had no control over. Her 3 seasons out west were up and down with recurring health issues. On to TCU where she broke a finger last year and is healthy so far this season.

You never know if things on/off the court would have been different had she chosen UConn, but I'm guessing not that much. Hard to put this one in the miss category. I'm hoping she has a healthy final season.

Kiki is also a post player. She is going to go top 5 in the draft. far as coach - imo you are overplaying this. Betts left Tara for Close. Betts is now flourishing in which she destroyed Dawn. can't go just 1 way when a terrific player form Stanford goes to one team and she doesn';t do well vs with a coach that has gotten to E8 while another player goes to similar coach (I don't know if Close got to E8 ever but Gottlieb did go farther last year than Close) and produces yet nohting is said is said about this as a comparison.

Enjoyed the highlights - thanks for posting.

Enjoyed the outcome, too.

Attendance seemed to be on par with our tournament’s.

People need to remember that in basketball match ups are very important. Some teams just match up better with others. You get the wrong match up and combined with players having an off night and often the better over all team loses.

Evaluating coaches is a very tricky proposition
The one thing I will say, is that in the UConn game last year it was obvious to me anyway during the time outs, especially at the end of the game
It didn’t look like a coach at the full attention of the team
For better or for worse, it’s going to be the juju Watkins show complete with all the social media celebrities from Los Angeles at the games influence of clutch sports
It will be interesting to see how their season unfolds

Going into the Holy Cross game UConn has 3 proficient weapons. How many teams have that? We saw Ole Miss get hot, excuse me they were on fire and UConn appeared to panic a little. Ole Miss got to within 3 pts then Azzi and UConn turned it back up. Azzi and Paige brought them back. You didnt see that in other games when ranked teams lost to lower ranked teams. The reason is lack of go to players. Players who take over games and do when they have to. I dont believe other top teams have a Paige, Azzi and Sarah. They have good players. They have players that can score but they dont have a player that can take over a game and I believe UConn has 3....for now. I do expect Jana and Ice to become more reliable and expect them to want the ball when the goin gets tuff. They are not there yet but are becoming that type player. As good as ND looked in their big win they didnt look that way against TCU. IMO it was because Hanna tried to do it all and not have everybody else involved. Just like USCs loss. I felt Juju tried to do it all. BB is a team sport and you need complementary players and you need a go to player or two. A team sport and the ole saying there is no "I" in team UConn has that.

Prince started at Oregon ( I believe) transfered out due to personal issues regarding a leg injury. Where did she go then? Now at her third school I believe…seems like she has been around 6-7 years in college…

i never felt they panicked, even a little. i think they were in danger of doing so, but they knew that teams (ole miss) can go on fire, and teams (uconn) can lose focus at times. to me, they seemed to be entirely in control even when their huge lead plummeted ... and they were confident in feeling that way. maybe not the newbies so much, but the upperclassmen led them well.

regarding hannah and juju: agree mucho and, right, it is the team that wins. nix on hero ball, which has never been a husky problem, even with the many players they've had who certainly have the goods to be heroes.
