Annual What Are You Handing Out for Halloween Thread

We used to go with the classics, Snickers, Reese's, Twix. But....we always have lots left over and will eat those. So my wife has switched to stuff we wouldn't eat. She has discovered that the little kids like Ring Pops. So we have those and like 200 packs of Pop Rocks, which the older kids evidently like.

Wife is with her dad at the ER right now, so it seems I am likely handing stuff out. Not looking forward to that. Assume I should give them several packs of pop rocks.
If you're left with the pop rocks because the kids don't want them or because hardly any kids trick or treat anymore you must do this challenge and video it for the yard.

Isn’t it time to put this whole charade out to pasture? Halloween is, by far, the dumbest of the major holidays.

Oh look. A Spider-Man. And a princess. Have this Snickers bar as a reward for our awkward conversation.
Personally, I don’t love it. I don’t like candy all that much, and I don’t like wearing costumes at all.

But I loved it as a kid, I loved it when our kids were young, they loved it, and my wife still loves it.

And I get kick out of the really young kids who get really excited.

Anyone have the Nerds gummy clusters?

They're wonderful, the gummy core keeps all the Nerds together for excellent suckage and they look like Covid.

I hate Halloween. I'm a grinch when it comes to this holiday. Our older kid is going to hang out with some friends, and my wife is taking our younger kid to trick or treat with some friends that live up in Malibu, so it's just me and the dogs. I'm turning off all the lights at the front of the house, turning off the doorbell, and putting the World Series on in my office at the back of the house. Can't wait.

I've always been a fan of the chocolate classics- Snickers, Reese's PB cups, 3 Muskateers, M&M's, etc. Mrs. Diesel is more the sugar type- Skittles and Twizzlers.

This year we both forget to get anything so we're giving out whatever is left on shelves. We may be handing out Sweet Tarts and Dum Dum lollipops.

Dum Dums, Skittles, Milky Way, mini Reese's and Take 5.

This guy got a full sized Twix!
Btw, this kids seemed older this year. The kids said they are making up for Covid.
Thought they using their 1year of Covid eligibility .

Just realized Mrs Diesel fluffed up the bowl with skull rubber erasers and plastic ring finger spiders. U'm throwing those in the bags of anyone over age 14.

Whatever is in the mixed bag from Walgreens. Full size snickers for any Mrs. Incredible

They descend like locust on my very walkable neighborhood. Over 150 so far. The Baby Ruth, Milky Way, $100 Grand always go first. The bowl is almost entirely Almond Joy with a few Butterfinger mixed in at this point. I didn’t tell my wife that I held back the bag of Pay Day. I love those.

My neighborhood is absolutely bonkers for Halloween. Multiple houses have big elaborate displays with those 12 foot skeletons and whatnot. My daughter is only 2 and half so we were done by 645 and handed out candy with our solo stove lit in the driveway for the next hour. Perfect weather minus a very light sprinkle after things were wrapped up. Halloween is my favorite holiday. You haters suck.

That’s exactly it, they’ve consolidated into walkable neighborhoods more than they did in the past. We went through 600 pieces including 200 full size before 7:30. Just turned the lights off and went into hiding. Have to draw the line somewhere.

Halloween has definitely changed a great deal since most of us were kids. Now it's really little kids going out with their parents really early, often to designated streets. Done here by 7 and done in my hometown by 7. No kids covered in shaving cream anymore, no toilet paper, eggs...

If this person came to my door I'd give them a full size Snickers also. For the creativity, of course (the Orange Line subway in Boston caught fire recently and is notorious for all kinds of issues and was shut down for a month recently for repairs).

I'll scavenge something tomorrow from stores.

What's your opinion on chocolate covered Pay Day?

Usually have 50-60, tonight just 35, most between 6-6:30. 60s here but steady mist. Only got 5 kids between 7-8.

Had 0 this year- found out people asked on Facebook who was going to have candy and only took their kids to the houses that said yes - I'm not on Facebook so I guess I have 2 bags to myself. Nothing like the 15- 20 bags I use to go through when I was in CT in one of the few walkable neighborhoods in my town

pretty much winding down now. feels like a memo went out on the kids hotline that 9 pm is the cutoff.
ring dings, little debbie yodels and brownies, drakes apple and cheery pies to those who first have to hear the lecture - 'hey dopey kid, u understand that these can smash in the bag, right?'
some green and red apples were also available.
we do requests, sort of.

not really a candy type, but i do respect those passing out full size snickers. classy. some kind of halloween holy grail right there.
