Not a double dribble because he never stopped dribbling and then started again.

I doubt it is a carry because a carry would require a players hand to be under the ball, stall the dribble, and then continue the dribble.

This really isn't any different than losing control of a dribble and regaining the ball without the defender touching it (interrupted dribble).

Besides, this was clearly a summer league game, most summer leagues have very lax officiating (except for the one I was at last night where a kid got a t for hanging on the rim when he really had no choice).

And then I tell him to never, ever, ever do it again and direct him to the bench for a spell.
