Drummond needs to be taught to box out. Shot goes up and he turns and looks while his man slips by him into position to rebound. Happens time after time. No box out, sit the bench for 2 minutes, see how long it takes. The whole team was pathetic on the boards tonight. Ville was getting the offensive board with one on three odds all second half.

Yes, this. All Drummond needs to do is extend his elbows on the defensive glass and it's a minimum + 4-6 for us a game. Just bow his frigging arms. That's all. It's insane that he doesn't do this at this point in the season. It's so simple.

Let him leave....we need to go back to the hardcore days when we recruited players like Freeman, Selvie, Adrian....guys that really had to work hard to even get peek by the NBA scouts not players that use us as a stepping stone for the NBA and are guaranteed millions without effort.

I find myself agreeing with all of your posts Chelo. My dad and I have been saying this for years now. All we seem to do now is recruit based on potential. Was Richard Hamilton a freak athlete with a man's body? What about Ricky Moore or Freeman as you said. Heck even guys like Denham Brown. We dont recruit basketball players anymore. Enough with the Thabeet, Majok, Stanley Robinson's (who I love btw) but still. Granted, everyone wanted Drummond and he was a major recruit/ hometown kid, so we didnt draft him based on potential. But we need to re-evaluate our recruiting. And its tough to swallow considering the two best players we've gotten in the past few years play on different teams. You know who they are.

He isn't going to make it in the NBA because he is soft? Wasn't Bynum as soft as a teddy bear when he went in the NBA at his age? Look at him now. Its all about potential. And Andre is full of it.

Im pretty sure Andre is never going to slam JJ Barea down to the ground. Bynum has a mean streak that Andre is never going to have. I mean he had five feet on a swingman and a wide open dunk and got swatted. That is inexcusable for a player with his size and leaping ability. Thats just going up soft.

Are you trying to say Bynum wasn't incredibly soft if not even softer than Andre when he first went to the NBA? Bynum developed his edge over time as he got stronger. Andre will do the same.

I had hoped he'd turned a corner in the last several games that he played in prep school. He finally started to play with sustained energy and was devastating. The competition was very high caliber and included a lot of guys near seven feet. His body language now is just terrible and he's been prone to just standing around. This is the way he was for most of the two years in prep school.
He does have an edgy side to him and it will come out from time to time but I haven't seen very much of it this year. It's really a maturity problem and for that reason i'm sure he stays.....ie I hope his mother is thinking that way. If AO is going to lead then he's the one to light a fire under Andre. And yes he's been taught how to box out and yes he has moves in the paint. He's playing soft because he's lost his fire......hopefully somebody finds the switch and soon.

Too bad you can't get Noel or Kennedy of Villanova on the court against him then you'd see the edginess......I'd also like to see the coaches try using him at the front of a press not the back.....in the prep leagues it was devastating

You can tell that he can he has some perimeter skills too though. That is probably what he was taught with CBC. They teach everyone how to play on the perimeter which is why you will see Andre pulling up a lot for a jumpshot and you saw him handling the ball sometimes. You can also see how he seems comfortable playing people out on the perimeter so it would not come as a superise if he was devastating at the top of a press.

Andre seems to get into a funk early and never snaps out of it ( I know a lot of that going around on the team lately) fails to finish twice from point blank range while trying to finesse the ball and makes that awful decision to pass the ball behind his back to SN under the hoop that goes out of bounds and the funk was fully entrenched for the rest of the game.
I hope he does stay around because it would be a real shame for him to follow in Daniel Orton's footsteps (great NBA body, proved nothing in college, drafted in first round but likely will amount to nothing). Now, AD has more upside, so likely would be drafted higher...but those who still think he is a top two draft pick are off base. There are too many who have NBA talent and are ready to contribute now.

For the life of me I can't figure out what everyone sees in this kid. Big and strong yes, but totally unskilled and it seems like the lights are one but no one is home. If he really is as talented as some think, then there is just no excuse for some of these no shows.

Drummond has been really, really good for 80% of this season. He is the 10th biggest problem with this team.

If Alex Oriakhi or Roscoe Smith were 5% the player he has been this year, they wouldn't be in this funk.

yes drummond is very limited on the offensive end,yes he seems lost on the boards at times and sure he lacks fire but all of this is fixable. AD is completely unstoppable when he gets the ball in the post and pulls a spin move because hes just too fast and too strong. the problem is we never get the ball in the post when our bigs are in good position. look at the gtown game. the first five minutes boat got the ball to AD in the post and he slammed it down with ease and there was no answer for it. bazz NEVER gets it into the post because he is a horrible passer. AD is an 18 year old kid whos learning to be a basketball player and when it comes together for him which i believe it will we are going to be left in awe of his ability.
i hate to beat a dead horse but the problems on this team begin and end at the pg position.

I think people who don't think AD is a top 2 draft pick are delusional. He isn't Thabeet. He is much more athletic and stronger at 18. He wouldn't get bullied. Coaches would work with his post moves. Then who could guard him once he learns? Maybe Dwight Howard. That's it.

Not the guy I'm watching. What has he learned thus far? They coach him NOW despite what everyone wants to believe (where's clyde?) and he continues to play small. He passes out opportunities when he's on the baseline, doesn't face the basket at the post because he'd rather show off his passing skills........this kid would get immediately lost in the NBA shuffle if he left this year......maybe turn into the Kwame Brown quite honestly !!! Love the kid, love his potential but he won't find it in the next level unless he makes it here first and he just got ZERO against LVille, yeah 0..........not even close.....plus he doesn't work hard enough and is way too nice. Quit helping people up Andre when they're kicking your ass..............

Again. Look at Andrew Bynum. They do actually teach you stuff in the NBA. Especially when you have Andre like potential. He wouldn't kill it as soon as he steps on the court but when it is all said and done he would be something special.
