Hence my point that this might be a backup plan.
However, could it be possible for someone who has graduated and is coming to UConn for a specific graduate program to walk on?
Or might one of our existing players be willing to give up their scholarship for the year?

I absolutely do not think Coach Ollie would or should get rid of an existing player because a transfer is considered to be more talented...reeks of disloyalty and is definitely not a "ten toes in" way of the doing things!
Oh please! If he expects to succeed he darned well better be willing to "advise" guys to transfer. this isn't 4th grade girls basketball you know...

True speak, but to Ollie I don't think it's about succeeding, but rather, what's best for his players, if he truly feels the best decision for his player is to transfer he should have no problem helping them in that regard, and he won't.

Moussa Gueye, 7-0, C, Jr., Alabama (will graduate)

Interesting if he can play?? If he can play well, why let him go?

He's marginal - he'll head to a low or mid-major.

I agree with you in principle, but Calhoun's practice of reaching on recruits and then jettisoning them when it's obvious they can't play is a big reason why we weren't playing in the NCAA Tournament this past year.

If that's what's best for his team, that is what he'll do. If he is unwilling to make decisions on what's best for the team he will last about 3 years. Sorry to burst your bubble, but if it ain't about winning with a coach at this level, he won't last too long. Calhoun never hesitated to run guys off (help them to transfer to a program better suited to their abilities is the euphemism). Boeheim didn't, K doesn't. Calipari doesn't. Even lesser coaches don't. If Ollie expects to succeed, he'll do the same. We want a basketball coach who wins, and comes as close do doing it at all costs as possible. That is what Jim Calhoun did. It is what will be expected of Ollie. I'm sure the Chaplain's group can use Mother Teresa. The Athletic Department wants a winner.

Actually, I wonder if the George Washington players, Lasan Kromah and David Pellom, could come into play, seeing as how Hobbs probably recruited both of those players.

Pellom has already committed to Memphis. He is a role player at UConn's level, and a pure back up 4, but could have been an interesting back up at that position. But, unless Giffey needs to play more minutes at the 3, not sure he's a big improvement.

I don't see Kromah coming back as a backup role player. He likes the ball and getting his shots. Don't know that he fits in the way RJ did.

Not yet...but talk to me in 3-4 years.

Future is the last bastion of the idiot and since you have clearly lost the KO debate that is where you seem to be residing. Your negatively adds virtually nothing to the discussion on this board so I will give the ignore feature a go for the first time. I look forward to the relief.
