According to this list (2013 Transfer List from CBS), here is who can play immediately (not sure if all are 5th year senior or not):

Jeremy Adams, 6-4, SG, Jr., Colorado (can play immediately)
Paris Bennett, 6-6, F, RS Jr., George Mason (can play immediately)
Kevin Berardini, 6-0, G, Sr., Illinois (can play immediately)
Josh Davis, 6-8, PF, Jr., Tulane (can play immediately)
Lasan Kromah, 6-5, G, Sr., George Washington (can play immediately)
David Pellom, 6-8, F, Sr., George Washington (can play immediately)
Allen Roberts, 6-3, G, Jr., Miami (Ohio) (can play immediately)
Tyler Sugiyama, 5-10, PG, RS Jr., USC (can play immediately)

And here are the players who will be graduating and transferring, and most likely able to play immediately:
Antonio Barton, 6-2, G, Jr., Memphis (will graduate)
Tarik Black, 6-9, PF, Jr., Memphis (likely will graduate)
Dadrian Collins, 6-7, F, Jr., Howard (will graduate)
Osas Ebmomwani, 6-11, C, Jr., Lamar (will graduate)
Reggie Groves, 6-2, SG, Jr., Canisius (will graduate)
Moussa Gueye, 7-0, C, Jr., Alabama (will graduate)
Sandi Marcius, 6-9, C, Jr., Purdue (likely graduate)
Errick Peck, 6-6, F, Sr., Cornell (will graduate)
Vertrail Vaughns, 6-2, G, Jr., George Mason (will graduate)
Lonnie Watson, 6-4, SG, RS Soph., Cal State Northridge (will graduate)
Interesting collection of talent there. Wonder who we are targeting.

Actually, I wonder if the George Washington players, Lasan Kromah and David Pellom, could come into play, seeing as how Hobbs probably recruited both of those players.

UConn is at 13 scholarships:

Seniors:
1 - Napier
2 - Giffey
3 - Olander
4 - Wolf

Juniors:
5 - Daniels
6 - Boatright

Sophomores:
7 - Calhoun
8 - Nolan
9 - Tolksdorf
10 - Purvis (redshirt - transfer, but counts)

Freshman:
11 - Facey
12 - Brimah
13 - Samuel

Someone would have to leave, or be kicked off, the team first.

Being at GW I've seen both these guys play. Pellom actually just signed on to play over at Memphis, so we'll be facing him.

Kromah would have been an interesting back up for PG if Shabazz hadn't come back. But with Bazz back, I don't think there's much of a need for him.

Aren't we locked up on scholarships for 2013-2014? Maybe there is a chance of a transfer? Part of me wonders about Leon Tolksdorf not being satisfied with playing time. I'd rather not give out a 1 year scholarship on a player who "may" or "may not help" but rather develop a guy... Not sure that's in the cards though... Any one know anything else about a possible transfer?

This board's policy is to not speculate on transfers. So, we'll just have to wait and see if anything happens.

If Purvis is sitting out the year as a transfer, does he count against the scholarship limit?!?!?!?!

I agree, so why would Amore throw that out? As far as I am concerned, we're not in the market for another player.

We also don't know for sure how the Wolf situation will end up. That would be the only way, outside of a transfer, that we could bring someone in.

Hence my point that this might be a backup plan.
However, could it be possible for someone who has graduated and is coming to UConn for a specific graduate program to walk on?
Or might one of our existing players be willing to give up their scholarship for the year?

I absolutely do not think Coach Ollie would or should get rid of an existing player because a transfer is considered to be more talented...reeks of disloyalty and is definitely not a "ten toes in" way of the doing things!

If we're looking then it is almost certainly only at those on that list posted above that are 6'7" and above

Let's trade Wolf and Leon for the 7 footer. After that we can sell the rights for ShabazZ to Kentucky and use the money to pay off the refs next year.

Giving us 2 ships open just in case the NCAA catches on and docks us them

They'll dock us retroactively after the season, then nail us for using ineligible players.

I thought Purvis had signed a financial aid agreement, not a scholarship? Maybe that's it?

Moussa Gueye, 7-0, C, Jr., Alabama (will graduate)

Interesting if he can play?? If he can play well, why let him go?
