Ok - You are a year into a new job - and your results record at best is mixed or below reasonable expectations. While Hathaway did poorly on the business side treating the basketball program as a cash cow despite a changing landscape which he never dealt with or embraced as an opportunity.
So given all this let's start with a low hanging fruit - in a normal business outfit - a no brainer - which would create good will - a concept the Athletic Dept has frankly fumbled.
While attendance has fallen to 25 year lows by some measurements - we had a student lottery for tickets at Gampel. While we marginally increased the number of student slots - given the early season attendance - why not use the losers in this year's lottery - and add another 500 - 1,000 fannies in the stands pro-rated to the games that remain. The previous reluctance to do that involved why not get more revenue per seat than you would with a student ticket. However, can't we make an assumption this year - that the revenue would be incrementally positive - since the alternative is an empty seat?
